Folks, i am not from chicago , but i have visited and i have worked there, and with the deep dish places like Bartolis, Giordanos, pizzaria unos,,Malnatis, Nonnas, and many other great places, you would have to admit that to open a deep dish pizza place to compete with those would be crazy. They have found a little niche' in the marketplace for a pizza bowl/upside down pizza, so i give them credit and they are making an honest living. I do not live there and i know it is not a deep dish pizza, but it does look tasty, so let's give them some credit.

Been going there since 1973 and its the same today as it was then. Absolutely wonderful pizza and the Mediterranean bread , along with the poppyseed and/ or garlic dressing are amazing. After growing up in Chicago I can tell you that this place is #1 in my book. I have taken many people there and everyone agrees that it’s the best pizza joint in Chicago. Be prepared to wait as there is always a line to get it.

Way back in 1982, I took my very first trip on an airplane with my Dad to visit family in Chicago. They took us to this place and I remember it so well!! Could never remember the name but when I close my eyes I remember what it looked like inside and the incredible smell!!! My Dad didn't like mushrooms but my Uncle convinced him to order one of the Pizza Pot Pies and it was AMAZING!!! I got my very first grinder and I was in love!!! I have never been able to make it back to Chicago but if and when I ever get the chance THIS is the first place I intend to eat at!!!!! 34 years later this place still is fresh in my mind as one of the best places to eat ever!!!!

it's definitely a bolognese sauce, not your typical pizza sauce. I used to make these for myself at a Rosati's I worked, and I always preferred them with the meat sauce vs. the pizza sauce. just gave it more substance, and yeah, it tasted more like a pasta dish than a pizza after it was baked.

I'm an older irishman from rural ky. Trivia - just across the street is the site of where the famous St Valentines Day Massacre happened. Not far away is RJ Grunts, another regular stop when the stomach needs attention. For a Chicago trifecta, Jimmy's Red Hots on Grand Ave & N. Pulaski. YUM, yum & yum.
