Actually the 1976 Blaxplotation movie The Monkey Hustle was shot in Woodlawn and Bronzeville so you're not far off about this piece of film of Chicago this look like this was shot about 1974 maybe 1975

King Nate they prolly did witness drill scenes but this is early 70s and 80s Chicago it was all about money no gang violence like that yet and most likely the kids prob in there 30s to mid 40s

Seeing this vid takes me back to childhood vacations visiting my aunt and cousins... Summertime Chi in the 80s on the 3800 blk of South Ellis in Madden Park/Ida B Wells.... I'll never forget visiting from Toledo, OH and going to the corner store to purchase a pack of cigarettes for my aunt and I was only 7. RIP Aunt Cookie... Them Operation Breadbasket days.... I miss them...

Sad fact....the last shots of this were on 47th street facing east. The "Food and Liquors" store (time code 1:17) was Rays Music and Pawn from the Blues Brothers. Then there is a jump and it pans from west to east and you have a better shot of the building at 1:43. The sad fact is those building no longer exist. They got destroyed in the riots. I know. I happened to live up the street at the time.

I was tryna look for street signs to see if the footage was from out south or out west. The “black p stone” graffiti makes me assume it was somewhere on the south side or at least that specific shot was from out south just cuz stones are a predominantly south side gang. @@FranSanTeeth90 Thanks for your help. It looks different now. I have only been to Chicago twice in the 1980's but not in that area. I know old Minneapolis Minnesota just about everywhere in the 1970's-1980's. Many old building have been torn down and most of the new buildings are glass or concrete eyesores. I don't understand people that complain about Charlies talent. If they think they can do better, then they should buy themselves a camera as well as drive around places they think Charlie should travel to. They will find out that video views are tough to get and the 1604 Likes as well as 18 Dislikes that Charlie has as of this comment are impossible for over 99% of the people to obtain because it takes time to get an audience like us.

I always heard that back in the 70s and early 80s, the inner city communities were strong and intact. Black Nuclear families still were commonplace, and people looked out for one another. Yeah the communities were impoverished and rough, but there was a sense of community here. The Reagan era really destroyed the Black community. Cool seeing all of the old cars here though.

Naw! I would say Crack Epidemic destroyed the Black Communities. In Chicago, that would had been the Bush Era (1988).

Those areas have been wiped out from businesses and commerce ... No restraunts .. just fast foods and corner stores...and liqour stores.... depends on what side your at .... alot of houses and whole neighborhoods gone ... MANY HAVE DIED ..SAD LONELINESS AND VIOLENCE IN THESE STREETS 70S 80S 90S . 2K

A shame most of these areas are still like this. Why ? A few new buildings go up , but than more than a few are burned down. Since 1968 and the riots , progress has happened.
