If you don’t absolutely need the miles during the week, charge to 80%. Then leave work Fridays with 90% for the weekend. It’s a tiny bit less harder on the battery and will make it last longer. I have a 2013 Model S performance. I only charge to 70% at work. 80% when I leave work on a Friday for weekend miles (my commute is only 11 miles). I’ll go to 100 for the half dozen trips a year. But make sure I time it so I leave as soon as it hits 100%. You don’t want it to “stay” at a high rate of charge. That accelerates degradation. 8 years later, my battery still has 95.2% capacity. On an 8 year old battery.

Does anyone have a rough estimate to re-upholster a car seat in vinyl? I wonder if all the time and specialty products used to clean and protect a seat is worth it over the life of that seat, or what type of value do you get for putting the time in and product on regularly? I would think that getting leather with contrast stitching to match oem would be difficult and pricey, but dyed vinyl seems like it might be relatively cheap to replace.
@Hattonbank2 жыл бұрын
PVC is about 25% of the price of basic embossed seat leather, but the work in cutting the panels and sewing all of them together is largely the same. All you save is the difference in the higher cost of the leather vs the PVC.

Just curious - does the leather protection process shown here prove best for ScotchGuard protected seats? Or is there a better way to clean/treat those ?
@scottmattern4823 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that scotchgaurd will be stripped by normal cleaning with carpet/upholstery cleaner. Or at least that is what the carpet cleaner told me when he was trying to sell their protectant application after my home's carpets were cleaned.
@Mogsy28uk3 жыл бұрын
Gyeon do a good Fabric Coat product for carpets and fabric seats, or Leather Coat for all leather/vinyl surfaces. I have also used Rain-X's Repel Guard on older cars, it works too, but needs re-done every few months.

@ImDembe3 жыл бұрын
You need to clean everything, probably even the roof so i would go for a professional for the best result if you can't take the seats out and clean everything.
@Mogsy28uk3 жыл бұрын
best with full strength APC or interior detailer, lots MF cloths and a steam cleaner. plus fabric/leather strong cleaners. once done you need to then use the same protectants for all the surfaces
