I have an unheated greenhouse and i have been using gallon jugs full of water to help keep the temperature up a little. Im in zone 6b NY and i still have zinnias and petunias blooming inside the greenhouse 😊
@ChicagoGardener18 күн бұрын
That’s such a good idea! How many jugs are you using?

I think you should name your greenhouse "Grenita" - a play on Green and the Cool Treat Granita - too cheesy lol? I just love how you've shown people who love gardening without any yard space how they can have a wonderful garden via containers!!

Thank you so much!!! That’s what I was hoping for when I started sharing, getting more people without yards to garden, so that means a lot to me.

Just did my winter sowing in milk jugs. (ohio zone 6) Experimenting with the floret vintage rose celosia from your plants. Of course I kept some also to sow in my greenhouse in spring. Fingers crossed! And for what ever reason I like the name Millie.

You have to let me know how the celosia does for you!

Curious to know since there are still quite a few leaves on your greenhouse plants if you plan to clean up those that will fall off over the winter. I suppose they could aid in insulating pots more but maybe with extra humidity, disease could be more of an issue? If your greenhouse is in some direct sun, you may want to try putting some bottles of water to act as a heat sink. But I guess there's not much room in there! Or maybe some bubble wrap to squeeze in between plants?
@ChicagoGardener16 күн бұрын
I do clean them up! I had leaves on some plants a few years ago and picked them up as they fell and tossed them on one of my beds. Right now the temps dropped so quickly all the leaves are frozen in place 😆

I’ve never used my pop up greenhouse. It just has empty pots in it. I ran out of time before I left for the holiday. I’m a bit concerned about how my plants have faired while I was gone. I didn’t do anything to protect them. 😬😬

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you plants! 🤞
