I laughed so hard on New Orleans/Melbourne/Cape Town round. Somehow I guessed that right, but in the next round I went for wrong Portland 😂

Greetings from Germany! Glad you enjoyed my map. Too bad you had two rounds where the coverage I initially choose got overwritten by more recent coverage. Actually, the NZ round should have featured a big-ass German flag in the center of the screen and in the New Orleans.. I mean Melbourne.. sorry.. Cape Town round, the restaurant, which now appears to be all black, also had a plethora of German flags flying. I'm trying to keep the map up to date, but it's getting more and more challenging the more locations I'm adding.

import all your locations into map-making.app and select the image date you want (not default). then export and import into geo. it wont ever update again

@@autopilot7561 I actually did that in the past, but I feel like it only works when I reset a (previously updated) location to an older date. All the other ones will still update whenever there's new coverage available. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.

@@skierst did you choose the "default" one? for the newest cov there are two options, with and without default. you need to pick the latter. or maybe youre checking the loc in the geo mapmaker? ignore what it shows there

That red building is a mini golf place we like to go to when we all visit. I saw it and was like NO WAY.

I was stationed in Gulfport and I used to live right on the city border of Biloxi, just a few blocks up from 90. I can see exactly where I lived on the map, DeBuys Rd, just west of the Edgewater Mall. I guess it's been a bit of a while for me, because I was totally on board with the Pensacola guess.

@ Haha we were just at the Edgewater Mall over the holidays. Although my mom just moved a bit further away from the beach (the hurricanes down there don't mess around). 🤣 It's funny, I actually met someone at my makeup school all the way in Burbank, CA who was also stationed in Gulfport before. Had a good convo about the Sugar Factory and the crazy milkshakes. Must be a pretty popular place to be stationed? Don't know much about the military.

@nathanhaimson Oh no. Not at all a big base. If you're stationed at Gulfport, there is like a 80% chance you're a Seabee. It's a Seabee base. There are only two of them. The other is Port Hueneme, CA. Keesler AF base in Biloxi is probably 3 times bigger.

@nathanhaimson Oh, and since you said you don't know much about the military... the Seabees are the Navy's construction force that also specializes in defensive combat. But we're never on ships, we're what is called the green side. The only part of the rest of the Navy we really work with are the SEALs. And there's always a back and forth and rumors that the Marines will be stealing us.

i got 3 out of 5 on the first map hahah i did pretty much the same on the bicycle map but i went iceland instead on R2! the Not Germany map was funny, i didn't do very well but i had a good time. i actually went that one place in R4 the last map was a fun one. seeing all those cars right on the beach in R4 was quite interesting. nice switch on R5!

Fun maps! I psyched myself out too much on Switzerland v. Japan... When the round felt too obviously Swiss I thought "surely this is just bait"... For R4 of "I Can't Believe It's Not Germany!", I recognized the design of the street signs. That city uses white signs with black text. ;)

The only I knew that you didn't was the German one where you went to Melbourne. I said oh noooo! I've seen it before that some South African buildings have that New Orleans French Quarter vibe. Also the African restaurant meant it prob was not Australia.
