Wow, great video! This is like watching a model railroad club layout. :-)The last time I was in Chicagoland, I stayed up on Route 12 at the Best Western in Mount Prospect, IL. My room overlooked the CNW mainline and I stayed up all night watching the trains go by instead of prepping for my long workday ahead. What's funny is the clerk at the front desk warned me about the trains "making noise all night". I said don't worry I love trains. She laughed.

Whoa! That stretch along the Kenton Line from 63rd to Marquette Ave used to be filled with grass?! It is a huge muddy and gravel-y mess nowadays.

Yes! Lived for many years at 68th and Kenneth and would traverse the alley along that stretch frequently. Yeah, slow going but I always enjoyed being right alongside the BRC main. BTW, did you know that stretch was supposed to be the right-of-way of the CTA Orange Line if the line had been run all the way to Ford City?

@@fmnut Used to live right next to Belt Rail Clearing yard and since they got rid of the Alco locomotives and went to gensets and EMD locomotives the air has definitely gotten better. Sometimes those Alco locomotive would have a good part of the neighborhood smoked up especially when it got cold . Nowadays nobody complains . But they are a good part of the neighborhood economics and train watchers always are going to see action.
