We've all heard this song a thousand times. I have NEVER heard it played this fast. Terry whipped the s#!^ out of the tempo and refused to let them slow down. He had something to say and he wanted us to hear it. We miss Terry.

@Archie583 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I used to play this in a Chicago/Blood Sweat & Tears/Ides of March/Etc. cover band way back in 1971-1973. We played it just off the album, all in the exact same order as the album. I'm a trumpet player and I copied all the horn parts out by listening to the record and lifting the needle and putting down about 50,000 times, haha. But if we had tried to play it this fast, we would have all panicked in the horn section! It isn't easy music to play even at the normal tempo. Now, in 2022, pretty much the entire band, Chicago, has changed, but the horn section is still the original. And those guys have it down cold. They play it so much better live now than they did then that there is really no comparison. I miss Terry, too. He was an amazing guitar player and a great all-around musician. Miss his distinctive voice, too.

Masterfully composed by James Pankow. So many shades of emotion and intensity, all masterfully blended. There was nothing else like this at the time, or perhaps since. My favorite Chicago composition of all time, and beautifully showcases the musical mastery of each and every member.
