SOUVLAKI is 1000% Greek, invented in 2000BC in Santorini, excavations of the Minoan settlement of Akrotiri unearthed stone supports for skewers used before 1700BC. That's why it's embarrassing for ANY Greek guy to call it / name it "shish kebab" or "kabob" as i can see it in many 'Greek' restaurants in USA. On the other hand, "Gyros" is turkish, comes from the turkish "doner" (1850AD, Bursa) made by pork slices mostly or chicken, NOT lamb or beef minced meat, that's why (pork)gyros is Greek. We don't shout "opaaa" in Greece since 40 years ago! Only in USA they still shout "opa" because of Anthony Quinn in "Alexis Zorba" movie. "Stella Artois" is a Belgian beer, NOT Greek!
