Moved out of Chicago 13 years ago after spending my whole life there. I used to go there on the job when I was a Chicago Police Detective. It could be -10 below zero, 5 feet of snow on the ground, at three O'clock in the morning, and they would be open with 30 people lined up to get a polish!

Incredible memories from early childhood growing up in Leclaire Courts Housing Projects on Chicago's Southwest Side. Not only eating but shopping for clothes and shoes in Jew Town. This has been served in Poland for over 200 years. My Polish immigrant family made it and ate it in Chicago in the 1880s. He didn't create it.
