Kicks ass. The "grease" is still there. This tune is edgy, eerie, and experimental--pure Lamm. Kudos to Trent Gardner for adding a great horn chart, plus the CHI horns for being able to play it.
@jml-rj5re7 жыл бұрын
The horns are SMOKIN' throughout Now. The entire album is a real organic mix... Free at Last and Allah are my favorites and stand up with the best of the Chicago recordings. The album is not so much back to the roots. but recapturing that edgy attitude that made Chicago great. Lamm seemed truly invigorated, too. This is one nasty (good) and challenging chart! Really cool look at getting this track down. Now is my favorite album of their since Chicago XI (Terry's last).

I think young people ARE getting fed up with what Jim calls "canned crap." I know I am. Hardly a day has gone by when I don't go to Planet Fitness for my workout and hear "Chandelier" by Sia. Even if she's a talented singer, the accompaniment can take a flying leap. If they played a track from Now!, that would make this overgrown boy's day!

I love the "Still Gotta Prove" attitude that Jimmy indicates here with his comments. This is some of their secret sauce to sustained success. This, and of course someone at the onset of it all, named Jimmy Guercio to get 'em noticed/known.
@lamarravery40945 жыл бұрын
But, I think this was their last stand. They promised there'd be more new music coming after Now. Then Jason and Tris left. Jason was one of their songwriters. I don't think they will make anymore new tunes. Their last album was 5 yrs ago. They're done.

NAKED IN THE GARDEN OF ALLAH video dychovej sekcie skupiny CHICAGO. Zázračný pohľad do zákulisia mojej obľubenej americkej skupiny a hudobníka Jamesa Pankowa, ktorý 20. augusta 2014 dovršil 67 rokov a je autorom úžasných hitov skupiny a aranžmá jednotlivých skladieb bez ktorých by to nebolo typické Chicago.

@@TimothyOBrien1958 Thanks for the insightful rebuttal. Who owns the name and signature sound, then? David Foster? Nope. Terry Kath? Dead. Seraphine? Sucked after VII. Bill Champlin? Hired hand. Responsible for their worst garbage (Look Away, please!) Cetera? Only the cheeseball stuff. Lamm? Ok, maybe Horns + Lamm But for me it’s: Loughnane, Pankow, Parazaider All f’n day long
@TimothyOBrien19583 жыл бұрын
@@metalSpike Seraphine did NOT suck. Walt was a mental case at one time. The founder of the band, Danny, helped him. Lamb went mental too, and Danny helped him. Peter was not only the top voice, he was a kickass bassist. He had great lines. Lamb was the smooth tenor. Kath was the soul of the band. Danny was the foundation, the spine. Jimmy was the horn section. He wrote the horn arrangements. I did research papers in college on their music from a musicologist's POV. Chicago lost its soul when Kath died. After that, it slowly widdled away to basically a cover band with some original members. BTW, Walt doesn't play with them often anymore. Only Lee, Robert, and Jimmy are the originals. I think you know less of what you think you know.

Chops .Lots of chops, indeed. However, I think time has proven that Chicago cannot recapture its heyday. With the constant flipping of members and the song writing all but outsourced. I haven't felt good about this band since the last album with Bill and Jason. One thing that's great is losing Howland. A whimp who couldn't begin to compare with Dacus, let alone Kath. I hope you guys retire soon and save us from another lame attempt at glory. Sad but true.
