My barrister was trying to rush my case through cos of the IPPs coming out, I was told that if I went guilty, I'd probably get 4-7 years. If went not guilty, which I should've I'd have got 6, up to 10. I had such big mitigating circumstances that if my legal team had listened to me they'd have told me to go not guilty, plus you (I think) always get a psychiatric report which was in my favour. Didn't know about any of this though, so went guilty in early '04, afterwards I thought why have I done that and was told couldn't or shouldn't change my plea. At meeting before sentencing my barrister mentioned IPP soon coming in and could possibly get caught up in it. Got a 5 years and barrister was smiling saying how good that was. If the proper facts had come out, had a Co-d who blamed all on me and was literally all on him!!! So he grassed instantly and I didn't wanna do that. Both got 5 years anyway, he changed to guilty at last minute. Has really fkd things up for me though. 20 years later this December it still messing with my life.

The Manchester Arena bombing took place at the end of an Ariana Grande concert and most of the victims were children. Our Courts sometimes give out Life sentences that mean Life in cases such as Myra Hindley and Ian Brady. Life with a minium tarrif to serve before asking for parole varies and at the end of the minimum tarrif, people can be released on licence and they can be recalled to prison if they don't behave on the outside.

I also thino the racism of frankland is because that the northeast of england is majority white. It is more a clash of cultures over racism. The northeast is more cultured nowadays

As of September 2022 there still are 2,890 people still serving IPP. Many of these still are waiting for a release date some served at least 15+ years for a crime that is usually 2 to 10 years of imprisonment.

@Pablo-sr2zx let me make this clear, he is not a friend of mine he was someone I know off and spoke to a couple of times at a bike meetings. i am not affiliated with him, nore would i ever help someone like that out. He didn't have charges dropped they had cctv plus dna evidence. For what he did to Sarah, he deserves to be in the ground rotting he used a bs story that he was forced to by a gang that was found false he even admitted exactly what he did to her. So whoever said he has charges dropped, you are misinformed.

I get what you're saying when you say "something was missed". I don't know, I obviously wasn't there, but my interpretation for what it is worth is that Craig basically paid the price for being a relatively decent guy in a Prison where decency probably doesn't belong. He spoke quite nicely about Kevan Thakrar at first, saying he wasn't a problem, and that he only became a problem when his brother arrived. I guess Craig felt that, having removed Kevan's brother Miran from the situation, Kevan could be reasoned with. I have to say, when you learn exactly what Kevan did, it makes his case hard to swallow. He didn't just slice Craig who had ahold of him but, having taken down Craig, he then chased the female guard down the corridor and shivved her 3 times in the back. He also sliced the face of the guard who then tackled him to save her life. Sure, Craig and the other male guard put there hands on him, but the female guard wasn't just not a threat, she was actively trying to run away from him. Kind of makes his claim of self-defence a bit ridiculous as she was no threat to him at that point and, when you know the crime he was in for involved not just the murder of 3 dealers, probably shot by his brother Milan, but also the attempted murder of 2 innocent women who were knifed I cannot help feel Kevin got away with it a little, PTSD or not. I know he sounds convincing but Prisoners are incredibly manipulative and even Kevan's supporters who are ex-prisoners will admit that you really cannot trust what anybody says in a Cat A. All that being said, I ultimately agree with you - the guards "missed something", but I feel that Craig simply was a victim of becoming slightly too complacent and having a little too much faith in a prisoner he probably believed he had made a connection to.

They abolished IPP but there are still about 3000 prisoners serving IPP who were sentenced when it was in force. GBH (serious harm) with intent (to cause GBH) = they intended to cause GBH as opposed to GBH where they didn’t intend to cause GBH but in fact did.

Longest sentence a prisoner can get in the UK is a whole life order, which means they will die there and will have no chance off release. The terrorist who got 40 years most likely not come out after that time, it just means he has the chance to see the parole board and ask for release, if denied he will have to wait another 2 years for another chance. Its quite common and more often than not allot off these prisoners will end up dying in prison regardless of whether they get a whole life order

Putting a child killer on suicide watch is hard to defend. Whilst there is an argument that suicide would end his punishment, how does this help the parents of the murdered girls? Allowing Huntley to kill himself would also save the public £50,000 a year. This is an example of prison not serving anyone, not the criminal, his victims or society at large.
