Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins, Mexico [Amazing Places 4K]

Chichen Itza is an ancient city with almost 1000 years of history, one of the greatest Mayan centers of the Yucatán peninsula in Mexico. Many great buildings still stand between the Mayan ruins: the ancient pyramid El Castillo (30 meters/98 feet tall), the Great Ball Court, the Temple of the Warriors, the circular observatory El Caracol and more. Chichén Itzá was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site and also proclaimed to be one of the "New 7 Wonders of the World".
The ruins at Chichén Itzá are the most impressive and famous Maya ruins, but I personally prefer those at Tikal, Copan, and Palenque, which have a much more eerie atmosphere thanks to the surrounding jungle.

I was there in September 2001, you could climb up the steps then. Have to say it was an amazing place to visit, so glad we went while we was in Mexico.

In an age when there was no heavy machinery as there is today, the technology used to build such structures, not to mention the labor involved, is remarkable. Chichen Itza is open and bright. And in the description I am smiling as I catch a glimpse of Mr. Milosh's favorite fragment of the building.😊 The sense of BGM is outstanding every time❣✨

I’m not a “spiritual guru” but BOTH times I went here. I felt this energy…it’s unexplainable. It was a good energy but almost like a presence, Like I was being watched. But not in a bad way, more so like someone just ‘guiding’ me around their ‘home’. Everyone should go at least once IMO Oh and the education you get if you do a guided tour?! Unmatched! I did a guided tour BOTH times. Not gonna ruin it for ya, but after the tour…you’ll def be going down rabbit holes if you’re a curious person😌

I was there in the early 70's. People don't often realize the structure is no 100% recovered from the encroaching forest. I'm glad you included items not on the main path. Thank you for posting. I always enjoy your videos. T hey take me to distance places I will probably never see otherwise.

You can see where the pyramid was repaired using round rocks, picked off the ground. This is atypical of a repair for the time, now the other side of the pyramid, this is not typical. There's no mortar used, the stone is worked with an amazing degree of skill, the smooth edges really showing off. I was there, climbed it and I asked questions, in my opinion it's a mysterious pyramid, perhaps very old. I think we can prove it's old, I am old right, but it has ALWAYS looked like this, this tells me it's like 1000 times older than me. How long did it take to fall apart then ?. More like, what caused it to fall apart ?.

Yes, it is. Imagine thousands of tourists a month would do that. This would cause a lot of damage.

It's not allowed today to preserve the ruins, also, in years past there were accidents as people fell off the steps. These ruins have very steep angles and makes it really challenging to go up and down. The Mayans and Aztecs were amazing climbers and were also physical fitted, not for the faint at heart.😊
