Sooo we attempted to imitate this trip today and let me tell you it was noooottt as easy as they made it sound lol. If you don’t speak Spanish figuring out the bus system is nerve recking. Then once you figure it out, getting to Kaua is difficult because not many of the collectivos go there. Then when you find one that does go there, there is no designated drop off spot. We got extremely lucky to just so happen to get off right in front of the restaurant. My tip is, when the bus driver tells you your in Kaua, stand near the front and look for a blue house to your left and on your right will be the restaurant with a red tent in the front. They do not speak a lick of English and it is a super small town but the food was amazing! When attempting to leave the restaurant you will have to stand on the street in front of the restaurant and try to wave down a bus to get back to Valladolid. My tip, the orange and white bus is likely the only one that’s gonna stop for you. It’s a locals bus. It can take you all the way back to Cancun but my suggestion is noooooottt to let it. It’s a locals bus so it will stop at every bus stop in every town on the way to Cancun. Just take it to valladolid and catch a direct bus to Cancun unless you want to be on the bus for 5 hours trying to get back to Cancun lol. Overall it was an amazing trip. It was awesome to ride the locals bus and see how the locals live. Would totally do it again now that we have figured out the kinks lol.

@@TheCountryCollectors Watched this again and still gives an excitement. You have asked me in one of my video recently on how I did my map animation worked. In case yo have not read my reply. What I did was, I downloaded a screen recorder then add just the clip that I need then adjusted it to a slow speed so you could capture that moment when the google map show that way to your destination. Hope this help my friend.

It’s on the way from Valladolid to Merida, the capital of the Yucatán so there is some stuff to do around it. You need to drive a little bit to reach other activities like Izamal - the yellow city, a lot of cenotes, ek balam ruins! Always something fun to find! Thanks for watching!

Hi guys! I've watched and re-watched your Cancun videos so much I feel like we've been hanging out. We are heading to Isla Mujeres for 12 days the end of October and I have been stressing out about making our itinerary mostly because everything seems so touristy and boozy (been there, done that .. not what we are looking for). I have been taking so many notes on all your good advice - especially transportation and how to avoid crowds. We are also super excited to eat at some of the local spots you've pointed out. YUMM! We had already planned on going to the Dog Rescue on Isla and now we've added school supplies to our list! I LOVE that idea.

Love the video. Very informative on how to get over there. I was in Cancun in December and wouldn't go there because of the length of time for the tour. I’ve been to Chichén Itzá a few times and think it’s definitely an awesome site to see, but for those that have not been there, you really provide some great history and a great option to visit independently from Valladolid vs taking a long bus tour from Cancun that will end up being a 12+ hr day 😣 I’m guessing your spending some days in Valladolid, so I will keep my eyes open for that video 😉
