Thank you Jeni for sharing with us you journey. You give me strength with my own journey. Couldn’t get into my Banner Neurologist so have requested a different referral . I taught at the Barrel Institute and hoping to find my way there and not stay with Banner. My symptoms are getting worse so I can’t wait until November when my referral is set for. Hoping to insist on Barrels. Thank you Jeni u may have saved my life by sharing you story!!! Thinking and praying for you!!!

LOL, your pup barking set off my dogs barking. All of a sudden my dogs barking, I jump up I run to the windows I look outside I don't see anything. Sit down I start the video and all of a sudden my dogs are barking again I'm like what's going on I jump up and we got the window nothing. Then I sit down start your video and I hear your dog barking too lol . Too funny!

You can use Clear Gel (cooking type) to thicken when pressure canning.

You can but it won’t be as stable as Therm-Flo long term because clear Gel is formulated for acidic foods and water bath canning, Therm-Flo is for low acidity pressure canning. I just didn’t want to thicken mine before canning, thank you.

Enjoying your videos! I learned from Alton Brown that I could make roux in the oven with little effort. Mix equal parts melted butter with flour in a heavy dutch oven at 350 degrees. Stirring occasionally until its the color you desire. I make quantities and store it in the fridge. I scoop and add as needed. Heavy is, I can get it as brown and nutty as I want without the fear of burning it. Give it a try! It can also be frozen.

That looks delicious. You have opened up a world of canning possibilities. I would have ruled out chicken ala king because of the flour and cream. Now it’s possible. I still have your chicken and mushroom soup on my mind and that will be my next canning project.

If you already have chicken canned, could you recan it to make this or should you just make it when your ready to eat it.

Make it to eat with your already canned chicken. Re canning would make the chicken dry. 😊

Jeepers, my list of things to can is getting bigger and bigger! Aside from chicken a la king, this would be good warmed up straight out of the jar like a general chicken soup! When I make broth for canning, I get to the taste of 'not quite there' so that my spices don't intensify and overpower everything, then I can add the additional spice when I use it.

The people who must precook their meats say that raw pack meats smell like dog food! They would rather cook their meat 3 times. Once before it's canned, once during canning, and once when they heat it up! I'm not up for triple cooked meat!

Love chicken a la king. One of my favorite leftover chicken or turkey dishes. I always add mushrooms to. We usually have it over rice.

I've never had Chicken A La King. And honestly, I don't know why. Serious question, I'm allergic to onions, what would I subistite in place of onion to account for that 1/3 cup?

I have never canned. After you pressure cook the raw chicken for 90 minutes, is the meat cooked all the way? Blessings

Looks great Jeni! I think you should do Zoom classes for people who want to learn how to sew. I’m 52, getting close to retirement and want to learn to sew so badly!! I can’t find anyone for learning in my area in Upstate NY on the Canadian border. I love your energy, laugh, and smile. I could totally hang out with you and have a cocktail while we listen to som heavy metal 🤘

You can use whichever meat you want too, I do have that written in the recipe linked below. I also mention it in the video. I can a lot of dark meat as well, I do have videos on those recipes too. 🙂

Oh My Goodness, I just canned 8 pint and a half jars and one quart jar of this recipe ( along with 20 pints of ugly chicken)and my house smelled absolutely amazing!!! I wish I could have tasted it in the jar. We are in the middle of a cold snap in Massachusetts so this weekend I may be able to try it. As always Thank you!!

Can you can with clear jel? I have chicken pot pie canned with clear jel, and hope it’s okay.

Yes you can, but keep in mind clear jel is designed for foods with a higher acidity, so over long periods of time, it will break down. Therm-flo is better for low acidity, pressure canned goods, it will maintain its stability better. 😊
