Hello Doc, love your channel and the education I have gained from it. Great info on the deep bedding for the wife and her plan to have chickens. I recently got passionate about lawn care thanks to you and about to tackle following your program on our 63,000 sq ft lawn. Hope I didn't bite off more than I can chew. Got in my last order of PGF fertilizers, and now have everything needed to perform the "curtain of death" on my ugly lawn. Just waiting on the right weather window here in Southern Oklahoma. Wish me luck if ya dont mind. lol

Great point on the slated boards. I use sand and I sift out the poop with a sifting shovel. I put that scat into my dirt and straw mixture and add moisture weekly. That’s my compost starter kit that I use to start compost piles of grass clippings and waste.

Do you feed the chicks any store bought feed?

Of course... they are still on chick starter and small scratch grains.

Please don’t light chicken coops! They need sleep like we do.

You know all kinds of animals sleep outside with moonlight, how do they survive?

Wild chickens have moonlight and star light. Wild chickens DON'T sleep in total darkness. Providing a small night light will prevent injury.
