CHICKEN GYROS KIT from Aldi - Ready, Set...COOK !!! - What am I doing wrong with this TZATZIKI DIP ?

The gyros looked lovely, but yes the tzatziki sauce did look like it had curdled ! Hope you have a lovely time in Greece and film some delicious meals, thank you Deano 😊

Semi related but went inter-railing back in late 80’s and ended up staying on a small Greek island called Spetses for a year. You could get a plate of gyros, a couple of bottles of Amstel, a bowl or oranges and a bottle of retsina for about 4 drachma which would be about £3 today. Good times.

Get these regularly both the chicken and pork varieties. From experience I find the meat is best spread over a baking tray and just cooked in the oven whilst the bread is best sprinkled with water and steamed. The sauce has looked like exactly that on everyone I’ve bought…I have eaten it and been fine but generally just bin the sauce off and use mo own. Served with red onion, cucumber and some tomato and they are a winner for me.

Gyros are really tasty from Aldi chicken and pork. the Tzatsiki sauce was like that with me also I just gave it a good shake cut top with scissors and drizzled a wee drop in the Gyro and it tasted pretty good to me not the best on the eye but honestly tasted fine mixed with baby tomato’s and finely sliced raw onions in the gyro.enjoy Greece have a good 1 🙌🍺

It is hard to believe that so many people who comment don’t know that yogurt based sauces will split when frozen,and all you need to do is whisk it,and it will come back together,only problem is you need a very small whisk for that little amount of sauce.😊

The sauce has split (the fats/solids have split from the liquids) due to it being frozen. It’s just fine. Tastes just fine too mate.

The sauce wasn’t off,just split because of being frozen,cream sauces tend to do that,if you whisk it, it will come back together,yogurt based sauces always what to split.
