Hmmm....roosters do have a purpose...all creatures do. They fertilize and protect the hens....SHE may not need them but she would have no hens without them. Also....the men comment was crappy. Men are wonderful and VERY useful 'creatures.' Just a thought...

She really is passionate about her chickens. Blue Star Ranch looks like a great place to shop for chickens. Its hard in life to find something that you love doing that you are good at.

Apparently the Chicken Lady was selling chicks like crazy earlier in 2020 because of the pandemic everyone wanted to raise chickens because of empty grocery stores.
@michelleevans55315 жыл бұрын
Sooner or later you will need roosters if you want to get more chickens. You do need roosters, like it or not. They are also necessary for protection against predators unless you are willing to live 24/7 iin the chicken coop with a sidearm.

Enjoy our roosters and they really look after the hens they even let the hens have the treats first and wait patiently beside them to have a treat. They are also very handsome and colorful.

Her remarks about redundant roosters , or for that matter male population, is just a put off. She was just playing with the reporter. She knows roosters are important in the coop. And the reporter figured out the quip. The point she would make, and most of the posters didn’t get it , is that you simply can’t have too many roosters to fertilize hens and protect them. All you need to do is observe how rooster fight off each other for territory. A few will do the chickens , while the rest are just dead weight eating up feed and taking up space. So while laying hens stay, the surplus roosters go to the fridge while young / old enough. The fancy word for it is flock management.
