ah, if you wait for the stew to cool down a bit, the dough on top won't melt in to the soup, and you can also leave a lot extra hanging around the ramekin for those of you who asked about the lack of the crust (i'd also suggest using puff pastry!) and to line it across the bottom of the ramekin for even more crustiness (or if you just have extra)

I can not wait to make this! Chicken pot pie is my all time favorite dish. I could honestly eat the filling as a soup that's how good it looked haha. Although, I have to say that normally the bread moistened with the filling is probably my favorite part. Either way I cant wait and this is an amazing take on the traditional pot pie :)

Stupid to ask, but why dosen't the dough rise more?
@ByronTalbott10 жыл бұрын
It's more of a flaky pie dough than puff pastry... It gets really crisp and flaky since there's no leavener i.e. yeast, baking soda, baking powder, etc.. Just a different take on a classic pot pie. ;) Great question!
@suhanysantos537410 жыл бұрын
Byron, the vegetables are cooked?
@Gorillasecret7 жыл бұрын
I don't think it rose because the dough look like it was a room temp when he capped it. I remember trying to make pot pie from scratch once and instead of putting it in a preheated oven I put in while cold, and the dough didn't rise. But when I re-did the recipe and used cold dough in a preheated oven and it puffed up.

You should try browning the chicken first, then adding the vegetables later and then deg lazing with chicken stock. Adding the chicken in raw in a crowded pot will do very little.
