This is a common form of scam going on for years. A friend of mine used to own a sandwich shop, scammers would show up demanding refunds because the food they ate from the store caused food poisoning. They used to threaten to report to the health dept and franchise corporate if they are not paid the refund. The owner installed security cameras near the cash register. When the scammer showed up he told them he needed to verify two things for proof - security camera footage and the receipt. The scammers stopped coming since then!
