I've watched so many candling videos over the last year and always get left with the same questions. Finally some unanswered questions answered. Thanks for such details! I have silkies that do excellent hatching but I keep trying to learn so I will know when to help if ever needed or to dos and not to dos making it harder for the hens. Thank you again!

This is so nice to hear! I’m so glad you found it helpful! (I just got my first silkie chick last month and love it! I’m hoping to get a couple more this weekend.)

that was pretty cool, you could clearly see the ones that developed compared to the ones that did not. Very cool

My incubator came with a built in candle light
@ChickenHues4 жыл бұрын
I just saw that in your video! That is a great idea!!

Are you flipping your eggs as you pull them from the tray? I see the action at the bottom, but it's actually happening at the top of the egg as it sits in the incubator, right? Thank you!
@ChickenHues7 ай бұрын
I am flipping them, yes! They sit in the incubator pointy side down. I put the pointy side UP to candle.

What temperature and humidity do you keep you bator at?
@ChickenHues4 жыл бұрын
The temp is 99.5. Humidity varies - I have trouble with my incubator’s humidity. I try to keep it around 20-30% (can’t remember why, though) and then try to get it around 65-70% at the end. Lately, I’ve been keeping it around 50% the entire time.... really, just because I’m tired of fighting with the water system in mine. Lol. It seemed fine and had the best Marans hatch of the year. It probably had more to do with the time of year.

do you have a hatching video for these ? how many made it ?
@ChickenHues3 жыл бұрын
It looks like there is! It is probably the video two down the line from this one in the vlog playlist. The Chicks Hatched - Moving Chicks From the Incubator to the Brooder. Those are probably the same ones from the candling Video.

Does the candeling light bug the babies ?

None have hatched with sunglasses, but I have to think the bright light isn’t very pleasant?
@dianefernandez8247 ай бұрын
😭we candled our eggs and had one that lit up bright pink unlike every other egg…my kids wanted to crack it open …science…and we did and the chick was alive !! We felt horrible!! I don’t know why it was so bright in there. Every other egg was dark.

Oh NO!!! That’s so weird. Was it from an incubator or under a hen?
