Its political. "Construção" is about the life of a construction worker who works until he dies in an accident. The song criticizes how workers' lives are seen as repetitive and undervalued. To reinforce this idea, the phrases repeat with small changes, creating a sense of chaos that reflects the disorder and lack of control the worker has over his own life, showing how society ignores the value of these workers.

Construçao was a song writen during Brazilian Military dictatorship. The song is remarkable not only by it's strong political message, but also by the complexity of the lyrics writing itself. The song portraits the life of a worker who is completely squashed by the system and his only purpose is to build that building untill he dies. Always "messing up" something, portraiting how dispensable peoples lives would be treated by the government at that time. There is some debate as to when repeating the story over and over he is portraiting how this is applied to different individuals, meaning it`s a widespread issue. Or if he is just telling the same story but with different narrative (realism, oniric, surrealism). Reggarding the portuguese language, Proparoxitones are the words that have the strongest silable on the antepenultimate (3rd to last) silabe. It is considered one of the hardest rhimes to be made in portuguese. Still the same, he mannages to write the whole song by retaining the whole verses and switching ONLY the last word on each line (which ar ALL proparoxitones), and the whole thing still makes sense AND rhimes. Since the brazilian dictatorship was very severe on Censoring music, many protest songwriters actually found an easyer way to get their music published by releasing them as soundtracks for theater acts. I`m not sure if that was the case in this song, but this theatrical feal is quite common on brazilian protest songs from that period, even for some songs which weren`t actually writen as soundtracks.

This song was made in dictatorship time and says about how insignificant was the life of a humble brazilian worker in that period. In the song some words are changed of place, but at the end of short history of this man the final is always the same: he dies after fall from construction and end at the floor disturbing the normality of world, disturbing the saturday, the trafic, the public, etc. His life have no importance. For that, the autor wishes wich God pay back to the people who are responsable for this system of things who keep the poors locked in a misery cage.

In the second and subsequent parts he repeats the lyrics of the song, but changes the last word, mixing everything up, without losing the meaning... I don't know how to explain it in English... take the lyrics, underline the last word and you will understand... .. and this is nothing compared to all his work....Genius!! and there are still a lot of people idolizing crazy people...very sad

The geniality of Chico on this song (besides many others) is that normally "Deus lhe pague" in portuguese is an expression of blessing. But here he turns it into an expression of cursing, wrapped by a felling of dark fury that is accentuated by the music´s atmosphere.
