Not much to go wrong on an air hammer bud. Even a soft hammer is good enough for awhile. Not a harbor freight shill, don't own this hammer, and plenty disappointed with a decent amount of dumb tools from harbor freight. Basically comes down to moisture removal and oiling before putting a tool away. Maybe he more $ is less sensitive to proper use, but this is a great deal imo. May be disappointed in time for semi-occasional-hobbyist use after I get one for honda ball joint and bearing removal, but I bet it would be quite good for quite a while. t.buys american whenever possible, as in +200% cost over chine shit for an "I need it for this task, may need it in the future, so why not". I do have several other chief tools, purchased for specific projects, that sit until I need them again (infrequently) and they're just fine.

It can also knock the end out of the gun if done too much. The hammer hits against the end of the barrel along with the chisel - not good! Tighten your vise I can’t stand watching it move side to side. Get a pointed bit and a 3/4 plate of steel and drive it in. Fresh bit first each. The hammer is solid, it survived an air line full of water and a couple knuckleheads at the controls. The trick is to use a real Mayhew chisel. So I really only use harbor freight stuff for like my misc shop tools, sockets, hex drives, hand tools, prybars, hammers. All that kinda stuff, I tryn stay away from harbor freight when it comes to POWER tools, for instance my 1/2 impact is a snapon, BUT my swivel socket 1/2 set is icon brand and it kicks ass, especially for the price, even my flex head wrenches are icon. I love them. But yea I for sure would rather have an Ingersoll Rand Diegrinder or ingersoll rand 3/8 or 1/2 inch impact over harbor freight stuff, ya know good name brand power tools, but man this Chief Air Hammer I am really tempted on giving a shot, looks like it kicks ass too, the price is amaing. there is a Ingersoll Rand 119MAXK Long Barrel Air Hammer Kit on amazon for $145 comes with bits and everything, but I really need an air hammer pretty soon and don't wanna wait the day or two for it to come in the mail. Do I give the Chief a shot or go with a decent brand name air hammer instead?

@@KoonTrucking I just went ahead an ordered the ingersoll 119maxk, along with some other things, stubby 3/8 ingersoll, and ingersoll diegrinder, so nice little matching set, im happy cant go wrong with either honestly, i was able to get over night shipping so win win.

This was not a fair comparison test. The SNAP-ON started with the bit as NEW and cut through the thinest part of the bolt being the threads. The CHIEF started with the bit already blunted and try to cut through the thicker part of the bolt which had no threads.

The test needs to be more scientific. New bits for each gun/test. That would be expensive, but the only way to be fair. Thanks for your effort.

I was going through this exactly like I planned to give the chief a less fighting chance with an older bit to prove it can do what the snap on does w a new one. There’s really ZERO difference in power of them.
