Marcus Davenport was never intended to be Chief Deputy before the moment Will Lewis took over as sheriff and for some time afterwards. That job was supposed to go to Keith Grounsell, longtime friend and mentor to Will Lewis. We know Keith Grounsell as the disgraced, former Chief of Police in Simpsonville, SC. Keith Grounsell put Will Lewis up to run for sheriff and was to wield power from the Chief Deputy position. The then-recent problems Keith Grounsell created for himself at the Simpsonville Police Department were still fresh in the minds of voters and Keith didn't believe he could enter the sheriff's office as the new sheriff. After securing the election, Will Lewis turned on Keith Grounsell over excessive demands by Keith and Will then chose Mr. Davenport to be Chief Deputy. Former Chief Deputy John Eldridge was to be pushed aside and paid the same while Grounsell re-made the sheriff's office in his own image had Will successfully brought Keith back into the sheriff's office. Mr. Eldridge later retired due to health issues after an honorable career at the sheriff's office. Keith Grounsell announced his intention to run for sheriff in Greenville County but recently withdrew. We'll see how long it takes for him to get back in and con people into believing he is different from Will Lewis. These 2 are obsessed with their own image and amassing power. Remember folks, Keith Grounsell will be much worse than Will Lewis if that decision to have him as Greenville County Sheriff ever comes to a vote. If you thought getting Will Lewis to resign when caught committing acts contrary to his oath of office was a chore, Keith Grounsell will show you what a stubborn, self-serving, masterful manipulator is willing to do.

I started to think he was decent, but then I realized he was right there going along with all this bs until Will got caught. He deserves credit for telling the truth on the stand, but at the end of the day a good cop who turns a blind eye to a bad cop, is himself a bad cop. This Chief Deputy is dirty and should be charged as well.

I sorta feel Marcus would have made a much better Sheriff for the people. I don't know him personally but to me he comes off a lot more authentic and honest then Will Lewd-is. Seems like "Integrity"... is merely a word used to get elected, opposed to a trait you'd expect to see with any High ranked public official. Tbh, listening to all the money spent on a ..."nothing out of the ordinary business trip"... makes me smh. It's just such a Gross waste of taxpayers money and we are only hearing about this one because of the case, but I can just imagine how many of these pointless extravagant trips go by and the public has no clue about. 😕

You really think she would go through all this if it was just about regret? No way. He groomed her to be his plaything & he got pissed when she said no. He created a situation in which she left her previous job & took on financial obligations based on the salary she would have working for him. He made it difficult for her in her job , when she told him no . He punished her when she told him no. He was tracking her movements , aka stalking her. The Sheriff of the entire county, & her boss , was stalking her. Because she was now dependent on this salary & car , he had her trapped. That’s what predators do. That’s not a non-issue . Will Lewis is a manipulative predator . If he would do it to her , he would use his position as the top law enforcement officer, to manipulate others . That’s a huge problem.

The Digs Brigade Exactly why predators like Will Lewis spend time grooming their victims. It’s textbook. Predators of adults or children , will spend time making the person feel special . They will do things to make the person grateful. Lewis did exactly what many predators do. The worst part is, how often it works. Look at the backlash Savanna has to deal with. She knew a lot of people would blame her. That’s what predators count on.

The Digs Brigade I know he used his authority to set her up in a situation it would be hard to walk away from. That’s just obvious from the salary , to the car & the extras he threw in . I tend to believe her over him. This is not Will Lewis’ first abuse of power . I live in SC . Not in Greenville , Thank God , but his reputation gets around.
