Chief Financial Officers now play a critical role in shaping corporate strategy and positioning organizations to meet future challenges. Bloomberg's monthly program, Chief Future Officer, profiles these leaders and explores the impact they're making on their companies and industries. This episode, hosted by Ed Ludlow, focuses on Archer CFO Mark Mesler. He's steering the aviation company's finances through the pre-revenue phase as it prepares to bring an eVTOL -- electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing aircraft -- to market in 2025, when the FAA has said it will begin to allow operation of these vehicles as air taxis.

Why has Archer not released any video of the Midnight in flight? Why only still photos? Very puzzling.

i wonder if these startups would have such sheen if they were named something comparable rather than an obscure acronym. instead of eVTOL use helicopter substitute.

For the same reason cars weren't called buggies, wagons or trains. They are not helicopters.

Funny, you can ask the same questions about a bus.

All I see are edge case problems. What happens when a passenger is drunk? How do you stop a terrorist attacking the pilot? Presumably taxis are cancelled if there's strong winds? What happens if the pilot has a heart attack or stroke?

Same concerns exist in a car, taxi, bus, passenger jet, boat.

@@maxmenius9839 Many buses (especially in Europe) have their bus drivers protected behind plexiglass. Many of the pilots in these evtols will be separated by a wall or door or something. They won’t be in the same cabin as the passengers. All of these evtols will be highly automated and will probably be capable of an autonomous landing should the pilot be incapacitated. Many will also have a ballistic parachute that could deploy if needed as well.
