Shore Leave Adventures : ANTWERP pt 1
Our ship stayed at the Port of Antwerp for 11 days. That gave us plenty of time to explore while on shore leave.
My brother-in-law, Wolf, lives near the city so he treated me to a very nice dinner at the best steak restaurant in town.
On the following excursion, some of the guys and I went to the city to explore a bit. We saw some awesome things but apparently, it left us wanting for more...

I’m having nostalgic moments every time I watch your vblog. I was in the US Navy, although only was on board ship for 2 years, I can relate to most of your life at sea, especially during port visits and walking everywhere.

Nice video. I particularly liked the architecture, the cleanliness and the break dancing. Pity about the Seamen's Club. I would have thought they would run a 24/7 service being in a major port. Surprised no-one checked the opening hours on the internet before leaving the ship.

Chief MAKOi, the beautiful interior of the huge building in Antwerp is stunning as is the outside! Another question or two, when you and the crew have Shore Leave, does the entire crew go together or are there crew members that stay on the ship, does the Captain ever go along or does there have to be a leadership crew member on board at all times, have you ever interviewed any of the captains you've sailed with? You and all of your ship's crew be well & safe.

Things I would like to see in your very informative as well as entertaining videos. How is a major repair such as a bad bearing in a critical engine can be changed in rough seas. Or perhaps cargo that has become displaced or a boom that has broken loose. What are the procedures if a major storm such as a hurricane hits while at anchor. Another interesting subject would be accommodations for women if they are under contract and how they are treated.

it's indeed the Port Authorities headquarters, the modern structure is to resemble a ship, but you probably figured that out yourselves :D

On many ships I come on , they have bicycles on board, . for trips like this not to far from the inner city.,, Im here every week in Antwerp , out from Rotterdam to bring provisions on board with a truck., im alway s happy if there are Pinoy s on board,, in the evening it means chop chop and eat leftovers from the diner., lol., my less favorite crew are Chinese ( no English, not happy etc ), Turkish, India , Myanmar, Russians. Ukraine,. and a few more,., for me it is the Pinay s for sure.,; mostly friendly, polite, cooperative, hospitible, down to earth guy s.

I have many stories from living in Antwerps and also many hours just hanging around that main train station. Was fun for about 6 mounts in Belgiun grate wafels and burger in belgic kinda KFC dont remember the name of it ok saba dach

A question how the ship play during a huricane while ship at anchorage area?Its dangerous for the ships & crew..Normally ship will pull out and proceed to open sea so that the ship has enough to drip while it is under manuevering mood..

What nation's currency do you typically carry on these shore visits? Philippines? US? Yuan? Euros? Do shipping terminals give you guys a break on exchange rates? Shore leaves at various ports would be the part of the visit I'd live for. Until COVID, that is...
