Mahomes and Reid are playing high percentage football. Which is different than high scoring football. If the Chiefs are ahead, Reid and Mahomes don't try to force things, they take the high percentage play. If that means 3 and out while up by 3, then that is what they do. But when they need the play, Mahomes goes into "Imma make a play mode" and is more aggressive. Mahomes has to be smart with the football, and makes high percentage plays when they are ahead on down and distance. When something happens that takes them off schedule... then the league gets back yard football in high pressure moments. Which Mahomes and the team excel at. It's not luck, or playing down to the opponent. It's playing the highest percentage play in whatever situation they find themselves in. And trusting Mahomes to make good decisions and great plays when something has gone wrong. They get good breaks because they've put themselves in the position to get good breaks.

If you watch sports long enough, the chiefs problem is easy to explain. They're a winningest team so every game is contested by the opposition to the nth degree. They have to get used to this. Eventually injuries and hard games will catch up to them, and others will start winning.

I like that thought on resting starters if they have the 1 seed locked but I think it would make more sense to play the top starters in the second half of the game as that would have more of a playoff feel.

It is an insult to say that the teams playing the Chiefs aren't good enough to beat the Chiefs. Every team who play the Chiefs are playing up as they know they must have their best game to beat the Chiefs. as an example, the Chargers are 8-5, they lost 5 games (including the Chiefs) but based on their play against the Chiefs one would say how did they lose 4 other games but they did and you can say every team that has played the Chiefs come in ready to play their best game... Chiefs aren't lucky, they aren't blowing anyone away b/c they are getting everyone's best game. you know what they say about excuses and those that give them. Patrick Mahomes is the league MVP he is 12-1, he's been (once again) w/o key weapons and #15 is leading and winning these games but whatever!

Another thing- last year prior to the playoffs I pointed out that the chiefs only had to score 27 points to win( they never gave up more than that) and this year is about the same minus buffalo loss (30) they have given up 27 once and 24 once and 20 once those are the 3 4 highest scores allowed. So yeah I guess I’d make the same bet again

I actually don't agree with Wright's proposition. Chiefs play hard every game...BUT I stress rotation of the star players that will be back so that Reid manages two plug and play rosters. If anything, his schedule would work wonders for only Mahomes. Put Wentz in against Pittsburgh and half the game so that Mahomes comes in fresh with WR set 1 AND he does his 4th quarter magic in the last game of the season. All players will be primed and Mahomes is healed up regardless of the horrible tackle issues.
