My 10-yr old Chi looks similar to Tina, although she's a chocolate brown mix but mine is mainly black with a patch of white on his chest & now becoming salt & pepper as he ages. My Chi is even more tiny, whose maximum weight is about 3lbs, even though he was mainly 2.5lbs when he was younger. My Chi is also mighty & fierce but has the kindest & loving heart when it comes to me. He's a dog for the people but does not prefer to mingle with other dogs or animals unless he is in the mood to play, which is rare for him. Now that he's older, he prefers to sleep most days. He is my soul dog & my beloved. ❤❤❤

I raised Chihuahuas for several years and I'm so glad you get her teeth cleaned at least once a year or more if she needs it. Small breeds get gum disease often and end up losing all their teeth to tartar,plack and gum disease and more often than not, also must have their jaw completely removed leaving their tongue hanging out, it's horrible for them or any pet . All dogs and cats need cleaning once a year at least. The disease can travel to their brains also and cause neurological damage.

I love chihuahuas. I had a 4 pound girl too. She wasn’t potty trained when I got her though she was an adult. I never could get her house trained and I still wonder if it’s even possible to house train tiny, sneaky dogs 😂

When I was 19, my mom forced a Chihuahua on me. I'd just moved out, just started college. I did not want the dog, but mom got her way, as moms often do. I took little Bridgette. She became my best friend. I took her to work with me, traveled with her, etc. Bridgette lived to be 18 y/o old. She enriched my life beyond measure. She passed away when I was around 37. She was with me for three decades of my life, my teens, 20s, and 30s. She was so loyal, funny, intelligent, etc. She was perfect. Mom picked out the perfect dog. Chihuahuas are an amazing breed, and do not deserve all of the negative attention they receive. Bridgette was a rescue, and I've had a total of five Chihuahuas in my life. I will never again be without a Chihuahua in my home. Along with pitbulls, Chihuahuas are the #1 most euthanized breed in the US. Please consider rescuing a Chihuahua from a pound. You will never, ever regret it.
