@dOVERanalyst4 жыл бұрын
@@Theboriaquatic I know that. Many in the comment section have written about the Anglicisation of Pattnaik. Different people can use different spelling but in pronunciation there is a little stress on the T, even if you write single T. The whole point is : She was way more accurate in her pronounciation than Russel. He literally butchered the whole pronunciation trying to be more correct. He was incorrect. Many have also said the most common thing of naming a city nearby people know about, when being asked like this. And, since when are we Odias not allowed to stay outside of Odisha? When people stay in Kolkata, when someone asks where you're from, they will say Kolkata. She NEVER SAID she was Bengali. There's a difference. You can be Odia and staying in a different city. My Chinese friend says she's Odia cuz her grandparents moved here. You never know what one identifies as. But you can't debate on the chance of Pattnaik being Bengali. Thats not true. It's Odia. Even I don't use my traditional spelling. My grandfather used Mohapatro, aunt used Mohapatra and mom used Mahapatra. Pronounciation in Odia stays the SAME irrespective of the English spelling! Atleast traditionally, (because origin was being debated). Someone can say I'm not Rama, call me Ram, dude. But he can't say Rama is the most inaccurate root pronounciation ever possible. Russel is wrong. She's not Bengali. Left at 8, stayed 42 years abroad. Doesn't know about Kolkata. Very Likely I would say. Period.

@@Theboriaquatic Where are you from and what are you are two different qsns from what I understand. If someone asks me where am I from, I might say Mumbai, for example.
