Fun fact Alex Vincent (Andy's actor) got the role because he pretended he kept forgetting the line "aunt Maggie was a real bitch and got what she deserved" because he didn't want to say it. All the people who were watching his audition genuinely believed he forgot the line and when he revealed the truth they gave him the role because of how convincing he was

They used two dwarf actors to help bring Chucky to life, for those scenes where he's seen in full body. The dwarf actors were actually about the same size as the kid playing Andy, so they built some larger props and set pieces to help sell the illusion.

i hope you guys watch the sequels all throughout Halloween month. they get wackier and dumber with each movie, but still creepy and funny. also, sometimes, for the super long wide shots, they DID have a little person in a suit. for stunts too. but everything else with slow walking or close up mouth movements is ALL practical. no CGI at all until the later sequels, and even then it's not noticeable.
@NiceDudeMovieNight

It's a great mixture of effects, for sure!
@majorleaguezombie796
@majorleaguezombie796 2 жыл бұрын
@@NiceDudeMovieNight the effects, which is a combo of animatronics and the little person in a suit, actually stay the same pretty much for over 20-30 years of this franchise, and it's only in the second to last movie in the franchise that they use CG. and it was for ONE scene. the creators try their best to make this series that went from creepy to creepy/funny to back to being creepy again completely practical. it takes half a dozen people just to operate Chucky's animatronic body, facial movements and all.

Norris is played by Chris Sarandon. You're probably remembering him from The Princess Bride (Prince Humperdinck) or the original Fright Night from '85. Or, you know, any of the about a billion guest spots he's done on TV series over the past 30 years. He's had a pretty busy career and he's one of the most criminally underrated actors. Speaking of Fright Night... it's that time of year. If you've never seen it, maybe see if you can squish it in the mix this month.

Owning a video rental store gave us some memorabilia as well, including an actual Chucky doll which I kept in my room. This movie was the only movie that ever gave me nightmares, and I still to this day love this movie because of that. Wish I still had that doll, but it got burned up in a house fire.

Just when you think he's gone it's only a matter of time when he comes back. Thirty years later and he's still causing mayhem in the second season on... Scy-Fi? I don't watch TV. >.> Just wait until [name redacted] comes later in the series. It's the actress' voice and attitude that I like rather than her, um... physical attributes. Edit: You're right about Chucky crawling up the hospital stairs (and running around in the background) being very creepy. This movie is the reason I have a huge distaste for dolls that blink. I'm 30 and I will get rid of a doll that has the ability to blink...You can imagine my fear as a child growing up with sisters who liked dolls....

I believe my rents rented this movie for me for a sleep over when I was 8-9 so, 1990 to 1991. LOVED this movie! My girlfriends and I loved it. And for you young kids, at 13:18, that was a special button you could press in the car and the end would be hot so you could light your cigs while driving. They haven't been in cars for about 10-15 years now.

long before Annabelle, this movie made people nervous about the presence of dolls in the room; at night; when they are alone..

I would love to see you all react to the whole franchise. Child's Play 2 is considered the best because of the amount of time chucky is actually being a wisecracking psycho that we all know. If you want my honest opinion the whole franchise though it has it's hits and misses, has a solid lore, follows a wild story line, and leaves no boxes empty as far as the ideas they explore. Chucky is by far my favorite horror movie franchise and it also is in part to Brad Douriff being such an amazing voice that brings Chucky to life with a personality even Mark Hamill (the best Joker voice) couldn't even compete. If you all do get a chance to check out the whole series please use caution with seed of chucky. It's not a bad movie for a chucky movie, but it's not what you'll expect.

I have always stuck with this franchise through the highs and lows. It's just, they act like a real tight nit family. Actors come back for the movies, and the series. They do practical effects as much as possible. I mean, Chucky's voice actor Brad Dourifs daughter is now in the series, she starts in Curse of Chucky. But pretty much every one that starts to work on the movies, stays with them. Don Macini has created such an amazing work environment, people stay.

So, this film got me looking up Voodoun culture. Dumballa is a loa, a spirit that governs certain aspects. I don't think they're considered gods, but I don't practice voodoo, so don't quote me on that. But from what I understand, Dumballa is the loa of water and life. Again, my knowledge is lacking.
