Not just your freedom, but also your safety, your sanity, your social status, and very definitely, your trust and your reputation as well. And being on a sex offender registry means massive amounts of restrictions so intolerable and so unbearable, that you won't be able to live another day with them at all, and you want to make your final exit. There were severe horror stories of convicted child molesters being badly shanked or killed in prison for years. Don't end up like that!

In the majority of the west, sex abuse involving children is a taboo and can ruin your life forever. Children under 17 are more powerful.

They should allow more leeway for Romeo and Juliet cases and cases where the minor lied about their age or was in a position where they were assumed to be of age because of the establishment, such as a bar or strip club! There should be some leeway for those who aren’t technically misconduct but there should be some punishment to prevent it from happening again but they shouldn’t be treated like a grown adult who takes advantage of children!

Some of these crimes (especially child porn crimes) can be 1st degree felonies - similar to Murder 1 - and that means you can face up to 15-20 years - to up to life in prison. But the worst thing that can happen with 1st degree felonies of this nature - is a lifetime sex offender black mark to your name - that is, if you get life in prison and you do get any chance of parole or probation. When you get out of prison on parole or probation - you have to register or you end up back behind bars! The lesson - don't perpetrate chomo crimes in the first place!

Because everybody in the United States has the right to counsel. False or exaggerated claims happen a lot, so imagine if somebody just pointed at you and said ‘monster!’ would you still share the same sentiment?

It's still the states job to prove their case. Defense attorneys aren't there to excuse the actions of their client, they are there to make 100% sure that the state proves its case and is not throwing innocent people in jail. They don't have the best reputation but defense lawyers and attorneys are extremely important players in a court system whether a defendant is innocent or not.
