Okay so I have to share this story. 1:30 that's me in the glasses and black sweatshirt. I was in the hip-hop section and I turn around and see him. Couple minutes later he walks up to me and tells me where are the N.E.R.D vinyls. I showed him but they ran out. I told him I was a fan and he said thanks. So anyway, as I was leaving headed to the parking lot, I hear a honk and turn around. It was him and he told me thanks for taking the time to help. He's a really cool down to earth person.

well I think that's why they pick them, they know the their not going to get some common, ordinary artist who just picks the cliché popular/commercial shit...but I know what you mean, you would think someone would suck but everyone I've seen I find out about a new group, album, artist, etc.. Usually about a few of them are new because I myself am such a dedicated hip-hop head that it's almost taken way from exploring more genres, and I LOVE all types of music, I even have some country that I've liked and that's by FAR the worst genre in music imo. So these videos are always great for reference. Sry for the long reply, I just was thinking the same :)

His new album is basically a Funkadelic homage. "Riot" even features Eddie Hazel's guitar solo for the Funkadelic song "Good To Your Earhole" as the main sample. The singing on "Have Some Love" sounds totally inspired by "Can You Get To That". Even the artwork with the woman's face is kinda inspired by the artwork of "Maggot Brain".

As an avid hip hop fan, I just think his whole rapping style and content is super cheesy. Some of his more alternative/indie just seem so much more musically successful but his rap is definitely what has led to his mainstream success. also I think he already combines both styles on his albums. I think that he should separate both of his types of music completely...

Thank god my dad has great taste, Godfather and part II, Scent of a Women, Unforgiven, My Cousin Vinny, Monty Python and The Holy Grail, Prince, MJ, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, Muddy Waters, these are the things my father loves and I am very grateful for his taste.
