@@thenameisomari this is how I see it: Childish Gambino is Donald Glover’s alter ego. And, when you’re young - you want to conquer the world, with the chip on your shoulder and prove everyone wrong. And the only way to do that is by excelling and being ‘the best’ refusing to come last, because (at the time) coming in last = death, embarrassment and weakness. But it seems as if Donald Glover (himself, who HE is) has grown into the polar opposite, perhaps age has given him the wisdom that it’s okay being ‘average’ because it grants certainty (if you keep going and don’t stop) then you’ll reach your goal. It doesn’t have to be the best, it doesn’t have to be ‘perfect’ getting a B+ is still REALLY good work. 4th and 5th place is still amazing when you look at your competition and how many people want to get into the contest. (My take on it)

I dont really keep up with artists or any celebrity, but something about donald is so relatable My cousin was a teen when derrickcomedy started and he was obsessed, then his mixtapes, then his stand up comedy, then, since i was still very lotle and wanted to be like my cousin,we would watch community together. I still have so much respect for gambino,i would kill for a true c.g comeback, bti or his predebut style, but at the same time,i know he’s matured past his old lyrics and thats the reason he’s retiring that character of his.Once i saw that it kind of inspired me to start growing my self, since i also realized that you can’t really progress if you don’t let go of your old self first. Sadly I didn’t get to go to his last tour as childish gambino,i live in mexico and there were no dates here, but still a great way to go out with a bang and move on to new stuff.I’m glad to have my cousin and donald as a role model

I'm so glad Donald is getting to just do what he loves. I've always been a fan of his musical work as Childish Gambino, I went to see him on tour this year and he was phenomenal. But his writing, comedy, acting, voice-acting, directing, producing, design, etc. talents are so vast and impressive too that I love seeing him just branch out and do whatever he enjoys. It's really inspirational to see someone just be creative in any way they want without letting one thing define their whole career, because I always worry about getting stuck doing one thing. Excited to see what he does next, whatever it may be!

I imagine when Troy left Community, Gambino took over and fulfilled that next part of Donald's life. But Gambino ran his course and the fact Donald even referenced Troy coming back is like meeting up with an old friend again from a different era. I hope he continues to make music in some capacity, but to say I'm overjoyed that Troy is returning is an understatement! 🎉😄

I’m a poet and I always wanted to be a rapper. I wanted to be Jay Z, Lil Wayne etc. I realized I’m a poet. And I haven’t been writing for a year or so. My goal was always to blow up, be famous and loved. People would occasionally tell me, create for yourself first. As if I was on an island by myself, with no one to impress. Because art is the thing I love. I thought it was bs and insulting honestly. Hearing him say what Erykah told him. Which is what I’ve been told for many years. It finally registered. I’m at a place in life where I can take in that truth and wisdom. Simple yet profound words. ✏️ 🧠 🗣️

Moving from Zimbabwe to Uk was a such a wirlwind and his music helped me grow a confidence in myself as he made art despite feeling like an outcast. Thanks to him, I feel not only the representation I wanted (the nerd, funny and witty yet awakward black kid then which is also emulated by him through Miles Morales) to now growing up as a hopefully, kind and honest man who can still be witty enough to be silly if need be.
