@@thenameisomari this is how I see it: Childish Gambino is Donald Glover’s alter ego. And, when you’re young - you want to conquer the world, with the chip on your shoulder and prove everyone wrong. And the only way to do that is by excelling and being ‘the best’ refusing to come last, because (at the time) coming in last = death, embarrassment and weakness. But it seems as if Donald Glover (himself, who HE is) has grown into the polar opposite, perhaps age has given him the wisdom that it’s okay being ‘average’ because it grants certainty (if you keep going and don’t stop) then you’ll reach your goal. It doesn’t have to be the best, it doesn’t have to be ‘perfect’ getting a B+ is still REALLY good work. 4th and 5th place is still amazing when you look at your competition and how many people want to get into the contest. (My take on it)

I dont really keep up with artists or any celebrity, but something about donald is so relatable My cousin was a teen when derrickcomedy started and he was obsessed, then his mixtapes, then his stand up comedy, then, since i was still very lotle and wanted to be like my cousin,we would watch community together. I still have so much respect for gambino,i would kill for a true c.g comeback, bti or his predebut style, but at the same time,i know he’s matured past his old lyrics and thats the reason he’s retiring that character of his.Once i saw that it kind of inspired me to start growing my self, since i also realized that you can’t really progress if you don’t let go of your old self first. Sadly I didn’t get to go to his last tour as childish gambino,i live in mexico and there were no dates here, but still a great way to go out with a bang and move on to new stuff.I’m glad to have my cousin and donald as a role model

But his writing, comedy, acting, voice-acting, directing, producing, design, etc. talents are so vast and impressive too that I love seeing him just branch out and do whatever he enjoys. It's really inspirational to see someone just be creative in any way they want without letting one thing define their whole career, because I always worry about getting stuck doing one thing. My goal was always to blow up, be famous and loved. People would occasionally tell me, create for yourself first. As if I was on an island by myself, with no one to impress. Because art is the thing I love. I thought it was bs and insulting honestly. Hearing him say what Erykah told him. Which is what I’ve been told for many years. It finally registered.
