I used to have an age-gap friend. In the beginning everything was alright, but then he started giving me lots of gifts (mainly band merch) and isolating from my friends. He forbid me from talking to my friends or even my crush, then he started to hug me quite awkwardly... Nothing really sexual happened. But it was disturbing

Me to.. i had a best friend who was older than me, he was like a brother to me and everything was fine at first.. then he did bad things in a s3xual manor. But I kept hanging out with him because I had no one else. He had isolated me from everyone . eventually the police got involved and it is One of the worst feelings in the world, but I love how I can relate to Bethanys story line as I feel less alone

Well me too, i had a friend that told me stuff that we would be thogether forever and i wont have any boyfriends, it was disturbing so i stopped talking with him(he is 22)

There was a lot of backlash about this story line but people need to be aware of it...whether its children or parents. This story line is teaching a very important message that people need to learn.

This can happen at any age. It did to me and the groomer was my parents' friend who was a medical doctor and he was 80 years old!

i was groomed by someone my own age we began dating and it sucked a lot because they would isolate me and then sexually exploit me and this went on for two years it was my first "romantic" relationship in my whole life anyone can be groomed, and anyone can groom another person

When I was 46, I was groomed by a 25 year old. It really can happen to anyone, by anyone. I foolishly thought because he was young, he must be innocent and if he’s innocent he must be a good person. My BFF saw it and screamed at me that I was being groomed, but while I was inside the manipulation I couldn’t see it clearly. Something felt off, but I couldn’t think clearly.

it’s a very good message aswell with the fact that someone can be groomed by someone of any age, they don’t have to be older or a man. That’s often a stereotype of the older man that grooms the younger girl, but it can be anyone

How to know if he’s really grooming you or that he’s just a gentleman? He’s just 2 years older than me (we’re both in our early 30s).

watch for signs of sexual talk early in the relationship, observe what he says about previous girlfriends. He should not be mentioning them and comparing them to you. Look up narcissistic love bombing, signs you’re dating a narcissist. If at any time, you feel something;s off, it probably is. Listen to your gut! I’m in my late 40’s and just escaped a predator. I was not aware that adults can be groomed. And single parents, be alert! often times a predator will wine and dine you to get to your child. Do not post pictures of your children on social media without a Dad present. A male predator is looking for an open door. He will prey on your loneliness and selfishness (desire to be loved and needing a break from your children).

It's not the greatest idea to date someone with such a big age gap, as the older person has the advantage of greater experience & know how! It would be helpful for you to know yourself & be very clear with your boundaries in your own mind & also to explicitly communicate them. How they respond to your stated boundaries, no matter how unlikeable, & whether or not they respect your comfort level, or if they seeks to push beyond them, will be very telling of how much they respect you &/or care about you! this comment is a massive red flag on the fact that you disregarded all of the other stuff that has to happen for it to be grooming. It’s someone being nice to you so that they can take advantage of you
