Marvel seems to have completely lost their way on character design. So here, let random internet person help show you the simplicity of where you're going wrong... Superheroes must be heroes, they are intended to be the best of us, the pinnacle, heroic is an aspiration to become. Not... what these are. But on the other hand, they must not be perfect, static, or unworthy Mary Sues like Captain Marvel. There's a fine line inbetween. They need to have some flaws for character development, but they don't need to be so lame and flawed (especially when your audience can tell you're just woke pandering and virtue signaling, which is an even bigger turnoff. Genuine representation should be treated normally, it does not need fanfare. Anything else is just you trying to make a buck pandering to people who naively believe you're supporting it.)

they're not personality traits, they're hobbies. granted, that might be an indication as to who they are, but that in itself isn't all writing a character profile is. they make it sound as if writing complex backstories is going the extra mile when it's almost literally one of the first pieces of advice you get when constructing a character, you write their life story regardless of whether or not you plan on using any of that information or not. i've always said the best line of study a writer can ever take is psychology. it's the how, when, where, and why characters do what they do. sure, knowing the elements of drama, story structure, blah blah blah, is need-to-know stuff, too, but you can get that information online or a couple bucks in library late fees. once you know it, you know it. psychology is an endless river to traverse. i've also said writers, who are mostly observers by nature, have to experience as much as possible. these people seem to live in a bubble, stunting them.
