Children of the World

This song, titled "Children of the World" was recorded in 1994 by some of Canada's best and brightest First Nations musicians. It was never widely released, and appears to have been mainly distributed to schools and libraries as motivation for young people to stay in school; sponsored by the Government of Canada. It's a hidden gem of indigenous talent, and definitely deserves more fanfare!

I am honoured to have met Willie Dunn one special evening many years ago. About forty of us elementary school teachers sat around a Sacred Fire outside at night and sang along with him as he played the guitar. It was magical.

17 years later after first hearing you I am always deeply moved when I play this. Our Dancers for Harmony from four schools danced to your collective on many stages including Harbourfront in downtown Toronto. We performed for the last time at Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School on October 10, 2003 assisted by Ojibway Honourable James K Bartleman, Lieutenant Governor General of Ontario, honour four Elders and a playwright Drew Hayden-Taylor (in absentia) interviewed in my 2003 U of T MA thesis on Character Education from First Nations Perspectives, we still all get shivers when we listen to this song and re-member.
