a little fyi from a brit: Her/His Majesty's Pleasure is probably more feared than the life sentence here. It essentially means 'you will stay here until the king/queen decides you've spent enough time here', that could be a week, a year, a decade, until 2856, until whenever they decide you can go. Life can be disputed, appealed, and altered whenever. Majesty's Pleasure can not.

Her majesty’s pleasure this time around wasn’t near long enough for those two evil boys. I have a 2 year old. It’s absolutely evil to imagine any one of any age walking hand in hand with an innocent child full of love and trust and then to torture them to death… Those evil people were given a new life and a 2nd chance, but that poor baby had 24 months on this earth that ended so horribly. 24 months is a whole quarter of their far too short time locked up… I’m just going on a rant, but it disgusts me how short of a time those kids were given when adults who don’t do anything near as bad get a minimum of 10 years

I had a friend in childhood when I was around 12 who I talked out of doing something stupid and permanent to their abusive step parent. It was scary to hear the way that they were talking. Some kids really are just that desperate for the abuse to stop. Especially when nobody is doing anything to help them. While the abuse continued throughout much of our teenage years, my friend is doing much better now as an adult and is greatful that they didn't permanently ruin their life. Both of us come from abusive neglectful backgrounds and I firmly believe that we kept each other alive and out of trouble growing up.

The way I see it, if these kids are being held accountable for what they did, then the adults around them that abused them and damaged them should also shoulder the responsibility of the crime. Because this didn’t just magically sprout out of thin air, these acts of violence are cause and effect. You cannot damage a child’s emotional and mental stability and understanding and then expect them to be able to just figure it out and be “normal”. Society would be a lot better if we actually address the root cause of these violent kids instead of just putting kids away like it’s a bandaid to the real problem.

As soon as I saw the title, I wondered if Kris would cover the Slender Man murder attempt. The offenders were two 12 year old girls- Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyse, and they tried to murder their friend in a sacrifice to the internet urban legend Slender Man. The victim survived. Who knows, maybe she does cover this case in the video. I haven’t finished it yet! But if not, it would be an interesting case to cover in another video.

I feel like the last story should have still been in self defense. They didn't do it in cold blood or because they thought it would be funny. They did it because NO ONE BELIEVED THEM, NO ONE HELPED THEM and that was the only thing they could they to do to get out of it. I'm glad they both made something amazing out of themselves once they got out of prison and the fact that they both had eachother's back was so beautiful to me. Like wow... They are in denial. It's an internal defense mechanism. Much easier to believe your child is lying than to accept your judgment about your partner's character is completely off and you actually invited a monster into your home and family, and even worse, that your child learned this (the hard way) before you did. This conversation is much larger than this context, but I hope it happens someday.

Totally agree. I wasn't abused or anything but I had a doctor touching me inappropriately when I was 11 during a medical exam and I remember it felt really weird and unpleasant but I thought that maybe he was supposed to do that, until I found out 2 or 3 years later when I said to my friends 'remember that doctor when he did this, that really wasn't fun' and they all looked at me baffled and were like he did not do that to us at all, that's not normal. And when I then told my family at the family dinner (should maybe have chosen another time, but I must have been 13 or 14 or something, so yeah), they all laughed at me and said I must be exaggerating. Like why? Why would I make that up. And that wasn't even 'so bad', I cannot imagine like you said like WHY would a child make up a story about someone abusing them??? But indeed like the comment above, probably in denial sadly... Really that is so sad.

“Age doesn’t excuse guilt when intent is clear.” This quote I put together isn’t to imply that all youth murderers are at complete fault, but suggests that the capability or intent to do so should not be overlooked despite age. Murder is a serious crime, a deed that should be considered as such with the appropriate charges that apply, no matter how young or old the person may be. A case I found is of 13-year-old boy Eric Smith who murdered 4-year-old Derrick Robie in New York,1993. Eric lured Derrick into the woods, strangled him, and bludgeoned him with a rock (SA’d him too). The scary part is that there was no apparent motive for the murder. While Eric had been bullied, there were no indications of severe abuse or neglect in his upbringing

I always get excited hearing a story so close to home. (In Indian river) But this is just saddening. having children myself I cannot imagine these situations. Hurting a child or imagining mine being hurt. I can't spank my kids I just turn around and apologize for hurting them lol. And so sorry you had to go through a hard time as a child. It's horrible.

Kids are scarier than adults for two things: 1. They aren’t aware of most social things and normally don’t understand when they do something wrong. This could be pushing someone or shooting their father. Their minds can’t process it 2. They don’t understand what death really means. When my grandfather died I was 8 and I still don’t feel sad. I hadn’t processed it when it happened and I still do not. I know it’s sad that he died, but I wouldn’t cry or feel really bad. This is why kids are like scary
@grimleyXIII

I’m not sure I agree that they “don’t understand when they do something wrong” Kids start to grasp that at 3 years old. I have to imagine by 10, 11, 13 years old, they’re aware that killing is wrong

@ that’s a good point but I have to imagine if a child is getting abused and knows what it feels like to get abused, then why would they do that to someone else? Not every child that’s abused becomes an abuser or killer There’s killers who weren’t abused and still kill
@pertinasmith8183
@pertinasmith8183 Ай бұрын
@@grimleyXIII I was thinking that too. I work with toddlers which is 2 1/2 and for most part, they are very aware. And some way more than others. I feel like a lot of adults downplay children making it seem like they don't understand much when they understand way more than most think. With death is a harder subject.
@Ewan-tc1zu

As a kid I understood death just fine and bawled my eyes out when my grandparents died and family died. And I still get sad over it. Kids feel emotions and it's wrong to assume they don't. They are just tiny humans. The biggest misconception is they lack empathy. If you don't feel things then that's just you.

i don’t remember it exactly because i heard it a while ago but you should do a story time on this one child murderer case. i don’t remember what the boys name was but he was somewhere from 5-7 years old. but, they didn’t know what to do with him because it was before children that young were aloud to be charged. i could be completely wrong but it might of been the case that caused the age where children are charged for extreme crimes like that to be brought to a lower age. i learned about it in a criminal justice class in high school a few years ago, so i hardly remember the case.

I think children who are abused - abuse because that is what they know and to release that anger. They need intensive therapy. prison? I dunno that kids really get the therapy they really need there, and a lot of prisons don't really rehabilitate, they breed more monsters. Some sort of group home maybe - with major oversight.
