It really is! The others have moved away. Jason is the only one still in Georgia. He leaves for college in South Carolina in August.

It's always a treat to see a new video from you, Debbie! I've been eyeing a dutch oven. What brand is yours? Do you think that a non-enamelled one would also work?

My red ones are Tramontina. I also have a blue Lodge. The regular cast iron Dutch oven is wonderful. I use my enameled ones more because the food shows up better on camera. I also have 2 Lodge regular cast iron Dutch ovens. One is 50 years old. I probably have way more than I need because I rarely cook for a crowd anymore, but I just don't want to get rid of them.

@@DebbiesBackPorch I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw what the Le Creuset ones cost! Good to hear that the more reasonably priced ones work well too. We are a family of six, so which capacity Dutch oven would you recommend we get, if we were only getting one?
@DebbiesBackPorch3 жыл бұрын
The one you see in the video is 7 quarts. It is heavy. I would guess a 5 quart would be enough, but I usually make multiple meals at the same time. I like to have quick meals in the freezer. When you are pricing Dutch ovens, look at Lodge enameled cast iron. You can find them at reasonable prices if you wait for a sale. Amazon also has something called "Amazon Basics" and that brand looks good to me. Check their warehouse sales. I just saw a 7 quart Crock Pot Artisan brand for $64.

@@DebbiesBackPorch Thanks Debbie! I'll look for something in the 5-7 qt range.

Hi Debbie! I ordered my first Dutch oven and would like to try your recipe first! It's a 6.75 qt one since there are six of us, would you recommend that I increase your amounts by half? Any change in cooking times?
@DebbiesBackPorch3 жыл бұрын
Not knowing how much your family eats I can't say. If you have 4 teenage boys you may not have a big enough pot -- hahaha. Hold in mind the pot in the video is 7 quarts. If you make too much, it freezes well.

Since most of the cooking times are based on when something is brown or when something comes to a simmer, the directions should still work.

@@DebbiesBackPorch Only two teenage boys, hehe. I guess I'll eyeball the amounts and just have backup potatoes or something.

Hi Debbie, just FYI the beef broth is missing from your ingredient list.

Just wanted to let you know none of your notifications have been coming through these past five months. I don’t know if anyone else is having these problems.
