Hey there I'm looking at the f800gt for everyday commuting and a bit of duo. It seems you've ridden yours for a good while. Would you recommend it to a newish rider? Do you feel trapped and forced to visit bmw for its maintenance?

Hi :) cheers for your comment. I'm a bit biased but I think that the F800GT is perfect for daily commuting, which I did for many years, as well as two up touring. Mrs. Foreigner complained about the lack of space in the back when the bike's fully loaded with the big bag on the back. Otherwise, it's fine. I think it's the perfect bike for new(ish) riders. It was my first bike ever, after getting my licence and it will "trap" you into servicing it at BMW's, if it's still under warranty. Otherwise, only things I ever do there is valve clearance checks and changing the transmission belt. Everything else I do myself. Cheers.
