Probably one of the most underrated and overlooked mid sized bikes. It checks a lot of boxes for the cost. Very capable and comfortable along with being approachable as well. Not much available in this segment that offers CC, quick shifter, TFT, etc.

I have put almost 40.000km on my F750GS in two and a half summers now. I have test ridden the 1300GS and did a day of enduro training on it. It is amazing, no doubt, but why would I spend double the money for burning more fuel, when the power of the 750 is very rarely used to its max by me? I have all the nice gimmicks as well, if we exclude the radar based features for a minute. I might well go for this F800GS when my bike has gathered too many miles in a few years. Thanks for the nice video.

Great review, thank you. As a 750gs rider for the last year I have been looking at a few reviews of the 800. It’s really as I suspected and offers little extra to make upgrading worthwhile. Indeed one review suggested that this was probably a stop gap model and a more fully developed version may be a couple of years away - one that might for example include some of the weight reduction features of the new 900gs. Watch this space 😊

I like this bike in its basic form (this colour) because the moment we start spec up this thing then it’s reaches to other more expensive and in the territory of big brothers and looses the whole point. I personally think that if you want to go far in remote areas then keep your bike as simple as possible e.g. lesser electronics.

A PT engine has two cylinders positioned side by side, aligned vertically or slightly inclined - both pistons move within the engine block in parallel :) yes, its the same engine that's in the F900gs

My wife bought a Tiger 900GT Low a few years back, partially due to your review. She mostly loves it but gets a pain in her shoulders due to the reach to the bars. We partially addressed this with offset risers to the max of the cable length. Then, last fall, she had a F750GS for 2 weeks in Portugal and was immediately smitten with the comfort of the machine. It just fits her 5'3" frame perfectly. The problem was the shortage of power relative to the Tiger (not a huge deal in Portugal, but back home it is). So, does the 800 feel more zippy than the 750? Is it clise to the Tiger 900?

I think this would be my choice from the current lineup. I think I would choose the white version because I simply don't really like any of them. LOL. So I would get white because its the cheapest and wrap it in a colour/graphic of my choice. I would change the wheels for wire spoked wheels in silver, not gold like they seem to have gone to these days. Probably change the exhaust to something a bit better looking. I like the low seat height which brings me to a rare complaint about your review. You didn't do your usual sitting on the bike showing how your feet reach the ground thing. Come on Kate, what were you thinking? LOL. Seat height isn't everything though. 2 different bikes with the same seat height aren't necessarily the same when you try to get your feet flat on the ground. Getting both my feet flat on the ground is a biggie for me. I am not overly short, but I have short legs and I am getting too old and my brain is too full of wisdom and other important stuff to be thinking about how and where I am going to put my feet down. I love your reviews. Specially the adventure bike reviews. Not so much those sport bike ones though. LOL. Keep up the great work.

Forgive me, I did have to remember to do EVERYTHING correctly for 5 bikes in 2 days lol. It's pretty low and there's loads of options to make it lower so it will 100% fit anyone in one of their many options of height trim :) And yeah, white and graphics kit would transform its looks!

Who is this bike for? Commuter? No - too heavy, too big engine, exhaust that take space dedicated for panniers. Adventure? Absolutely not. Touring? No because it has no wind protection. Typical heavy bmw.
@stephenfisher86365 ай бұрын
The vario paniers from the r1250gs and prior work on this bike, so that is not an issue (especially if you have the R1250GS for long touring and this for commuting, etc.). Also, the screen from the F850GSA attaches as a simple and inexpensive mod and that is perfect for long distance. The bike is actually pretty decent, and as she said, very approachable for shorter riders that can't handle the larger GS bike (which is superior in almost every respect, but more expensive).
@os62195 ай бұрын
Comments about this bike are so full of nonsense. Make a better proposition. Most people don’t need a two times more expensive bike. It definitely can be used as a commuter and a tourer. Yeah it’s as heavy as the 1300, ut what’s the point? If you can’t handle it, start training!
@EireRider.motorcycle.adventureАй бұрын
an absolute waste of money in my opinion. much of the same just a new engine. no change to the dynamics from the older F750GS and a massive amount of weight when compared to competitors. Spend your hard earned cash elsewhere or just pay the difference and get the F900GS!

@MH-xd2nd5 ай бұрын
Waste of time reviewing this bike. Just watch a review of the 750. It’s virtually identical. The fact that you had basically nothing to say about it speaks volumes. The 10hp extra in the engine is mostly above 6K rpm which just about no-one will be at on a bike like this. I couldn’t tell the difference on a test ride. Expensive for what it is, under powered, crap brakes and suspension, characterless engine and poor build quality. I say that as an ex owner. Never again. The competition caught up some time back. Do yourself a favour and get just about any competing bike. It will be better.

@adinovak23525 ай бұрын
As and ex-owner of 750gs (4 seasons) I simply do not agree with most things you say. It's pretty comfortable, had no issues whatsoever, reliable, offers surprisingly lot of power, build quality better than the competitors in this segment (I compared that with honda, triumph, yamaha). Engine sound - well, distinctive, some like it, others don't. I can only agree with you about the brakes - could be better.

Every time I see BMW motorcycle I think of long trips, expensive maintenance and high upfront costs. I suppose it does not help that BMW riders have stiff neck and artritis in their both hands and feet or smt so they seem to lack the ability to wave or nod back to other riders. As a result I stopped associating BMW riders as I call them with motorcyclists. They are just a different breed and not a friendly one.
@norriemasson40805 ай бұрын
You’ve been unfortunate Ed, I find the Nod or wave has over the years been dying away no matter what brand of bike is being ridden, it doesn’t stop me acknowledging all bikers I see on the road.
@Edsdrafts5 ай бұрын
@norriemasson4080 I usually get nods from pretty much anyone who is enjoying their ride and doesn't have their head up their arse. I see them watching their surroundings, noticing others, making eye contact, generally wearing protective gear, in better mood etc. BMW riders I find just mind their own trip, don't want no contact, stick up the arse type. Maybe that's the thing, they just want to get from A to B and don't embrace the helping nature and culture of others. This is generalising of course. BUT. All I can say is I went from all riders are in the same boat opinion to all but most BMW and Harley riders are. I still not to the feckers but 8/10 times I get nothing back where with any other rider I get the opposite response.
