I was also a transfer student from a community college and I loved my CC experience and university experience, and saving money was definitely a plus! I wish people wouldn't look down at CC's or CC students.

Totally! CC's all the way. It's just important to use it as a transition period and transfer in the end!

dermasusanv I just transferred as well! I think it's all about putting yourself out there. It'll be lonely at first (feeling that way sometimes too) but you'll start making connections and friends. Do things that interest you (if you like working out go workout and make gym buddies, or if you're very into your culture you could join a cultural group, or if you like dancing try out for the dance team!) The possibilities are endless. There's no rush :) good luck!! And enjoy these last years in college

dermasusanv hi! Congrats on transferring! I felt the same way, but just like the person who replied above me, definitely put yourself out there. I'm not one to join clubs, but I worked some part time jobs on campus. I met a lot of new people as a peer advisor for my college. So whatever works for you really!

I didn't do CC, but I REALLY wish I had. It's way nicer to be closer to home during a really tough transition period (AND SAVE $$$$) instead of being thrown into a really different, really DIFFICULT environment all of a sudden with little to no support. Tbh, I really admire ppl who did CC. Smart planning :)

Karen Navarro I don't look down on community college but I usually recommend to people to go to university instead of CC if they have financial aid or the means. If they don't, and they're ambitious and studious, then CC is best. But let me state why I think university is better than CC for most young people. I've seen very few people who go to CC actually transfer. They usually just fool around, end up getting a job and dropping out. I think when you're in a university, especially if you live in a dorm, you're in an environment where everyone is living the student life. All your friends are students who are there for the long haul. If you go to a CC, you're more likely living at home so you have your highschool friends who are not going to college and unless you're very committed, there are a lot of distractions so there is a bigger chance of dropping out. Since everyone in a dorm is a student in a four-year college, then you're likely to study together and have similar goals. That being said, CC is great for people who can't get financial aid but are not well off because it can save a lot of money as long as they're fully committed and love school. Unfortunately most people need more motivation.

When you talked about your struggles with math and writing it hit close to home with me; I've always been "average" and I never really understood math even though I was raised in a household with high expectations. The point is that this further proves representation is important! Thank you for showing us that even through struggles in school you can still be successful ❤️

If you want a really good cheap version of the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, the Nature Republic Botanical Hyper Liner is REALLY good. It's only $12 and it stays on my oily eyelids all day so I like it 😁

I loved hearing you CC experience! I was on the same exact page as you. I was between UC Davis and UC San Diego. And I chose UCSD cause I'm from Sacramento and Davis was only an hour away. Your talks are just so helpful and comforting and relate-able! I have MAJOR social anxiety & throughout all the friends I've had in my life - I've never once made one of them. They all had to come to me and ask me Qs and become my friend. I'm too shy and have a huge fear of rejection so I've never made my own friend until last year I saw someone who was where I was from in my class and thought up a good ice-breaker and made a move! Now he's my boyfriend! Greatest accomplishment ever. It worked well b/c he was already interested in me as well but I have had failed attempts before too. Anyways, thank you for just simply saying that rejection and feeling hurt is OK. It's just part of a process of something better. Love ya Jenn.

I go to a cc and was really nervous and in my head to often since I didn't know what I wanted. Literally, after my first semester in college, I felt so much more appreciative of my mom and even my dad (who I never had a good relationship with). This video literally pointed at the issue that I always have which is trying to be connected with people but get hurt by someone who is not nice AT ALL. And i was just thinking why can't people in the world be nice to each other and show respect to one another. I am so thankful to realize that this is not just an issue that happens on me but a common issue being living in the society, which encouraged me a lot. I just transferred from doing two years at my local community college to the big University in town and had my first lecture today and it seriously is a whole new world. I love how you open up about being an "average" student. Growing up, I always felt like I had to work extra hard to get good grades instead of being a naturally smart student. But I'm glad because that's how I developed a better work ethic. After college, I definitely learned that grades do not define one's success. Hard work does!
