Chilled Build ep.6 - Shredding Brockham clay & stacking dirt at home.

Ride on clay and then dig with sand? Surely that's the perfect trails weekend!
This episode we visit Jonny, Adam, Luke and the rest of the Brockham crew on home turf. It's a ridiculous spot with the perfect trail ambience. Little noise other than the sound of hubs zinging and birds singing. Nestled in a beautiful little patch of woodland, these trails are built from rock hard clay and ride like concrete. To finish off the trails experience they even lit the pizza oven and cooked dinner. What a spot!
After this we're back home in the sandpit- making tweaks to the rest of the CoronaCoaster line- it's been a bit of a mission to dig at this time of year but we've made it happen. Thankfully the effort hasn't been wasted.
We finish off with a few cheeky laps at home- evenings trains and good times with damned fine people. I love summer evenings at the trails.

How come yall put carpet on the jumps i mean i guess it keeps them from eroding but does it make them run slow?

I think the carpet gets kinda crusty and hard after a bit so it doesn’t slow you down

Liam Childs ok it dont look the best though but i guess the jumps wouldnt look very good if they were eroded and had tracks in them

The carpet holds a bit of moisture in the ground and stops it from breaking up. I don’t mind the older stuff that has gone brown/green like the trails but I hate putting a bit of bright carpet on a new jump- it stands out and looks horrible! :)

Can confirm, the spot i dig at is mainly solid clay, and holy christ is it hard to dig up after its set for a while. Basically need a pickaxe to get through the top hard packed layer, its like concrete.

why the carpet?

It's a long story... started with tarps but they were stolen, moved to carpet but people would come and ride the jumps with the carpet still on. After a while we realised that really heavy old carpet keeps the moisture in the ground and didn't feel that bad to ride. We know the optimal set up is to tarp the trails when not in use and only ride in summer but we've found the carpet works good enough for us.

I actually had my cable cam with me that day, but there wasn’t a route for it that warranted the time it would take to set it up. I’ll use it in future videos where I can.
