This was a really entertaining and pretty informative dispatch from one of the fairly unknown corners of the globe. I commend Mr. Dominic Swire in being quite the jack of all trades in his research, scriptwriting, filming, presenting, narrating and editing this film. Moreover, whoever chose 'Frogs Legs' as the background music knew what they were doing too. I was seeking videos about Harbin's internationally-known ice festival, but was charmed by this report, especially the part about the people who line up for hours to get a loaf or two of what seems to be pretty regular Russian bread. Seems Harbin markets are ripe for bakeries. The newlywed couple interviewed were also very cute. I'm surprised reference wasn't made to the need for body warmth in such a cold climate as part of the reason it was a good honeymooner's destination. I can definitely see newlyweds going there to see the ice festival. That seems like a perfect backdrop to a romantic weekend.

Lu Liang same here! But i believe the Harbin cold is a really important part of our hometown and its a sort of pride for us Northeastern Chinese. We are kind of associated with the cold since we are in the coldest part of China and it should be a heritage that we are proud of.

When I had a good income, I visited many countries but missed out China. It was because China was then still developing. Now, having watched so many videos about today's China, I wish I could afford to visit all those interesting places like Harbin, Beijing Hutong, Canton Tower, Shanghai Bund, the glass bridge, water towns, and of course, the great variety of wonderful foods. I think China has been doing a lot in promoting tourism.

It is an old shop selling the bread for more than 100 years, named HuaMeiXi. Another is Madieor. And it is Russian style. I don't know why. But yes, my mom also like it. - -!

Went to Harbin to escort a small group of Australian tourists for the Ice & Snow Festival this January. Absolutely spectacular, and loved the city. We also got to see St Sophia, Siberian Tiger Park, Unit 731 Japanese POW base and the Jewish Synagogue. If there is any Australians out there that are interested, I'm going back next January for the 2016 festival....

I have lived in this city for about five years. The winter here lasts for about half a year. The worst thing about winter is not the low temperature but the tidiness of the city. It's much too dirty in winter. However, if u come here in summer i think harbin is quite a clean city. The bread the guy tasted is the product of Huamei restaurant. Another famous food of harbin might be red sausages. Anyway i think it's just soso..

the old Harbin is a legend . now it becomes too artificial like rest of Chinese cities as most historical buildings got ruined by industrialization. the city used to be very unique with its own culture and tradition back to 70s . 怀念哈尔滨!

+Dominic Swire local citizens are fleeding out of this city, because it' fking cold and the econimy keeps going downward, harbin institution of technology aka hit used to be the first choice for students in north china and many from other parts of the country, but now when local students graduate the city can't provide jobs that meets their satifaction so they all move to bigger cities like beijing shanghai guangzhou and shenzhen, they city now is left with older people, when their children settle in other cities they move too.

07:33 I found a Korean guy made of ice :D It was funny. This time, I think I would end up travelling to Shanghai and Beijing (my first trip to China in this summer), but I also want to visit Harbin someday(maybe in this winter after I earn some money with part-time jobs or something). Greetings from neighbor country, South Korea.
