We took a road trip to find more cool spots in Denmark, this time we ended up in Ærø. Brisket came along for the adventure as we:
*Walked around the beach and bath houses
*Stamped our Danish Island passport
*Bought some wonderful pastries
*Explored the streets in search of Christmas decorations
*Found Vonderup Klint
*Climbed up a lighthouse on the northern point
It was a super cool day, but we MUST go back for the summer weather!

I'm a islander too and can only recommend that you take your time to enjoy the small islands of Denmark.. but you should really begin with Bornholm, and visit Christiansø. It's a little island with under 200 residents. It used to be a stronghold and a tax harbour for trade in the Baltic sea. Some of the most dangerous people back in the day were prisoners of the island. But they could still enjoy a life as a somewhat free person, except that they were isolated from the rest of the public. Bornholm rocks a cool display of exotic flowers since a large ship with exotic plants stranded on the island many years ago.. and the topography is pretty good for bicycles, but you kinda need to train a little bit, because the hills are really tough some places..

I totally agree with Josh: “Hindbærsnitter” are the best, also one of my favorites. I still claim, that I can judge a bakery on the quality of their hindbærsnitter. I’ve been to Ærø twice. 30 years ago with our then 9 yr old son. On bikes. We did the whole island in a couple of days. Next time was September 2019 with our oldest daughter, 35 yr old. A father-daughter trip. Again by bike. We, too, stopped at Vodder Klint. We also visited the lighthouse. A windy tour, at times we endured winds at 19 m/s. Luckily we used electric bikes. And that is OK when you are almost 70 …

Hi love your videos, Denmark is actually pretty hilly in west Jutland also, I just wanted to say that I think brisket is a allergy friendly dog, Wich mean he don't have a undercote so he don't have anymore protection against the cold than human hair... I have one as well and if i need to be out longer than half an hour in winter i give her a jacket on, especially if not moving around to keep warm, cause she will get sick, she is used to the warmth in the apartment like I. So everytime I need a winter jacket she has a shirt or jacket on as well, and honestly she don't hate it anymore, now when it's cold she ask for it. Not saying you do anything wrong, just wanted to share.

I know Denmark don't have breathtaking mountain wiews, or deep forrests, but there is plenty of small qute towns, whith centurys old houses, that people still lives in, and wide open landscapes. In the summer, it's so nice, to take a bike whith you in a trainride, and then pic a destination, and go explore. I do recomend a little jacket for Brisket, so he doesn't get wet on youre trips.

What a great trip! If it weren’t for COVID, I would be planning a trip to Denmark right now based on your videos alone. I’ve been to many countries, but Scandinavia has eluded me somehow. Off topic question... Do you color grade when editing or is this straight out of the camera? It looks to me like a Sony color palette, maybe a Sony a7R III? It looks very good whatever it is. I do a bunch of photography and drone stuff so am always curious. :-). I have been meaning to ask, do you have an Instagram where you post images of all these amazing places?
@TravelinYoung
@TravelinYoung 4 жыл бұрын
You should definitely come! I am glad we can help get you excited about DK :). Once things settle down we have plans to explore a lot more. I use a Sony a7Rii. I do some limited color adjustments in Premiere Pro in post. That is typically my very last step. I need to find and/or create some LUTs to simplify and standardize that part of my editing. This video was particularly tough as we had a lot of footage outside, some inside, some with Brisket who is like a large piece of charcoal when on video, and then some at sunset at the lighthouse. Typically I am able to use most of the same color adjustment across most clips, but not so much this time :). As for instagram, I did set one up, it is instagram.com/travelinyoung00/. I posted a lot when I initially setup the channel, but since starting Danish classes doing the videos is about all I can handle. But if you follow, I promise I plan to go back through past photos from these trips over the holiday break and get caught up. I bought the Sony earlier this year due to the photo capabilities, but ended up using it more for these videos in the end. But I do always switch and take photos when we are traveling. I also have a TON of photos from past travels before moving here on flickr - www.flickr.com/photos/josheli/. I likely won't post too many new ones there and will try to better maintain the instagram above moving forward. I also do a lot more color editing in Lightroom for photos. What is on flickr ranges through my various Nikon cameras from the past, prior to getting the Sony.
@jasontomasacci7162
@jasontomasacci7162 4 жыл бұрын
@@TravelinYoung We are certainly going to be planning a trip as soon as possible. Yeah, I figured it might be a Sony based on the colors and how well the auto focus appears to work in tough lighting. In my opinion, the Sony bodies, in particular, the a7 line provides the best video of all the DSLRs. I am by no means an expert when it comes to video, but I do have the a7RIII, a Nikon D810, and a D850. Did I mention that I take a lot of pictures :-). They are all capable of providing good video, but the a7RIII out shines the other two in many ways. I also purchased it expecting to use it for still images, but have been mainly using it for video. My D850 is the main body that I use for wildlife and landscape photography and love it. I wish the frame rate was a bit faster, but I make it work with a battery grip. I agree. If you are able to find a LUTs or two it could help speed things up considerably for you. Have you heard of Peter McKinnon? He is a Canadian youtuber/film maker and I know that he offers his own LUTs for next to nothing. They are really nice. Although, it doesn't seem that difficult to make your own either. Thank you for providing your Instagram and flicker. I followed you earlier today on Instagram and as soon as I remember my login for flicker will follow along there as well. My username is Jtomasacci or beyondgravity33 on Instagram. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to look much at Instagram today, but from what I did see the photos are fantastic! Like you, I haven't been actively posting for some time on Instagram or any platform for that matter, but plan to start posting again soon. I've been studying for the CISSP, but would much rather be out taking pictures. :-)
@TravelinYoung
@TravelinYoung 4 жыл бұрын
Ha yeah. One issue I have with the videos is sometimes I now forget to take photos. But I am working to keep my mind in sync and remember that the Sony is a just a great camera for everything! Peter McKinnon is great! I got hooked on him early on when I was trying to find good Premiere Pro tutorials to improve my editing. I learned some VERY handy tricks from him that improved my efficiency as well as added some style. I enjoy his 'brand' and all of the helpful videos he's posted over the years. He is by far my favorite, plus I mean, he's Canadian! Thanks for the kind words on my photos. The Sony does a lot of the hard work. I just get myself in the right spot at the right moment :). I think this holiday break will give me a chance to catch up on a lot. We are off from work and with restrictions in place in DK we can't do all that much. I'm sure I will also watch a few more of Peter's videos. I hope you can get here soon after things improve. It is an amazing place, any time of year. This fall/winter we've gone out a lot more than usual. And while Summer is ideal, there are hidden gems and more privacy with fewer crowds when it is cold and darker.

Earthslides ?????? Most of the Danish landscape was formed in the last ice age when the land was coverd by glaciers pushing the ground around like a giant bulldozer and sediment left behind when the ice melted. The small rest (southwest Jutland) is very flat because melting water from the glaceiers deposited a very uniform layer of sand/gravel. Many of the rocks found in Denmark were picked up and carried here from the north by the glaciers.

The signage at the site explains that they are formed by landslides due to the nature of the soil. The softer soil fell away while the thicker clay remained. You can read more here: www.aerogenealogy.dk/aeroslaegt/voderuphist.htm
