My grandson n I go get something to eat, bluetooth my phone to my car radio. We listen as we eat supper on Saturday nights. Making memories. I hope he shares with his grandchildren one day.

Time to pull the bedclothes over you with ghost stories and fantasy! Perhaps two radio play ghost stories I’ve produced AND a brand new mystery listed on my channel “Claude Chabot Presents” right here on YT AND a radio fantasy comedy, “A Trip to the Moon” starring Joyce Randolph of The Honeymooners, which features Larry Robinson, who, as a child actor, actually worked with Orson Welles. Here’s the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpbbY5-qrtCBiq8--Claud. If you don’t want to click the link just search “Claude Chabot presents” on KZbin.

My dad used to record these on cassette tapes when he was working alone on the night shift. We'd always listen to the tapes in the car on vacation. I also used to listen to the tapes in my room when I was in middle school. I listened to my favorites over and over! The stories are great, and I learned a lot of new words by listening--words like macabre, modus operandi, etc.

When I was a kid in the 1970s, I had a clock radio that would shut off after an hour. I would make sure to be in bed by 10:00. I would set my clock radio and listen to the CBS Radio Mystery Theater, and it would shut off at the end of the show. Listening to the shows in the dark was much better than watching TV because the imagination is much more powerful. It is wonderful that you are posting these great shows, I was just telling my wife that instead of watching TV at night, we should sometimes listen to these radio programs. People used to do that.

Hi again, Chilly. A good episode if rather predictable. CBS Radio Mystery Theater was essentially a revival of the old Inner Sanctum series of the 1940s. Updated in many ways for the 1970s, including much more science fiction. Himan Brown created both, and was undoubtedly a genius. We all owe him a great debt for the legacy he left us in a very long, productive life.

Oh, and I loved/love EG Marshall. His voice became synonymous in my mind with Rod Serling, the Control Voice on TOL, the hosts of Quiet Please, Dimension X, Lights Out, Mlack Mass, and other iconic voices that represented epic tales fueled by fervent imaginations, including The Crypt Keeper et al. Anyway, E.G. Marshall was brilliant.

The music used to creep me out long ago but the stories were great and the talented actors too and some of them you might catch them on an old episode of Law & Order and actually see them like Tony Roberts or Paul Hecht. I still have some of these episodes on tape cassette with sometimes the original radio commercials from replays in the early 90s.

My mind wanders, like a drunk going home- A few errant steps off! Now back on the sidewalk. Did I see something shiny? So I have to re-listen to it. And again. Meanwhile , Beck's "Dreams ", is on replay in me 'ed.

I always want it to end differently than it does. But the fact that it doesn't is why i keep coming back & listening to it again & again. I keep hoping to find some hidden meaning. Much like my parents & i always tried to connect some sense of narrative to the death of my oldest brother in a driving accident. We investigated everything from his own blood tests for drugs or alcohol, his passenger in the car, the officers on scene, the local weather reports... everything we could think of, but nothing could show that it was more than just a random accident. In our case, that made it harder, because part of resolution, you need some one to blame. But sometimes there is just no guilty party. It really was just one of those hazards of living.

The doctor character sounds like Edward G. Robinson. That makes it even more spooky as he died four years before this was taped.

I used to listen to these on KOOL AM radio in Phoenix, back in the '70s when I was a kid. It came on at 10:07 PM, way past my bedtime, but I had my little transistor radio I would listen to under the covers so mom couldn't hear.

It is strongly hinted that Silas murdered Charlie, then - overcome with guilt - threw himself into the sea.
