Thanks for watching everyone! Such a fun and rewarding journey, defo got hard to film sometimes but i locked in for the banger dont even worry about it and yes, chimborazo isn't the world's tallest volcano, BUT its the highest that you actually "climb" (technical equipment such as crampons rope axes etc.)

Hey Ryan, I doubt you’ll ever read this but, your videos got me into mountaineering. I did a lot of backpacking before, but was always terrified of heights. After watching your post-Everest videos, I began to climb. Now my only hope is finding friends who want to go with me! Thank you so much, seriously.

Nice climb 👍 I attempted a 6250m Himalayan peak solo, in India in September called Kang Yatse 2. I got up around 9:30pm and set off at 10:30pm. Tbh I did not expect a crap to come on in the middle of the night, but it may have been the strong coffee and nicotine patch that got things moving. Thankfully it was before the glacier, somewhere below crampon point at just after midnight so it wasn't crazy awkward. I just moved some rocks and dug out a small hole. Although it certainly wasn't convenient, it was quite a unique spot for an evac and thankfully nobody came past at that moment. I think the adrenaline would be pumping a bit hard for a crap to come on crossing the glacier, generally I find high stress is enough to put the brakes on bowel movements with my body. Got to around 6050m and had to turn around, headache got rather intense.

The peak of chimborazo is also the closest place to the sun/the furthest point from the center of the earth, due to the curvature of the earth! Have you considered Mount Adams, a part of the Cascade Mountain Range in Washington state? Earthquake activity has spiked there this year, and I'm afraid that its peaks won't be there much longer. It might go the way of Mount St Helens. It doesn't have a caldera, but it is technically an active volcano.

Congrats on getting back to Ecuador and bagging Chimborazo! I remember in your Everest prep you had gone there and didn't make it to the top. Goes to show the summit will always be there for another day! From your experience, would you say the Chimborazo/Cotopaxi/Cayambe/Illiniza Sur combo are a good choice for first time above 20K? My highest is currently 14K on a CO 14'er, so would do something like Whitney, then Rainier, then Orizaba/Iztaccihuatl before Chimborazo. Kili sounds cool also, but wouldn't get any technical experience doing that one but would still get altitude experience to 19K.
@RyanMitchellYT28 күн бұрын
100%! Chimbo and cotopaxi especially. You see high altitude without technical risk and also a lengthy expedition Illiniza sur is more technical and i did norte already, plus it made cooler content as well haha. You can totally do norte and its honestly a pretty cool climb that doesnt require extensive mtneering experience! Good luck
