Wow. 14 years ago... KZbin has changed a lot since then!

that was the original thought but then we realized that the brick chimney is a lot smaller than the pipe coming off the stove. it does revers draft well if you like a cold house or a house full of smoke.

@1tydruk well there are 2 factors that you are not looking at 1- what is the cost. this will need to be a low cost project... I currently have found the prices I need to complete the project for under $700.. 2 this is going through a concrete foundation and then up the exterior of the house.

@1tydruk not really an option now... we tore it off (see my vid) and are going to put doubble wall pipe up instead.

Let’s understand why you should hire a certified chimney sweep to help you install your chimney liner. 1. Inspection of the system. This will help you determine what your needs are for your specific appliance. 2. Most cheap liners are going to fail after one flue fire. Insulation is critical to the performance of the flue keeping creosote build up to a minimum by maintaining proper flue temps thru out the liner. 3. Your CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep will in most cases have access to better products than purchasing them online. 4. Your insurance company may require you to have the installation inspected by a certified chimney sweep. I’m not saying that it’s not possible to DIY these. You just want to be absolutely sure your doing the right installation.

prefab class a is what you want for that which is zero clearence piping which is used on prefabricated houses that comes in 4ft sections and interlocks with 1 another an you have to have a firestop for each floor if youre running the pipe through the middle of the home. if it looks like a dryer vent its not the correct pipe even if it has insulation(alot of people make mistakes with this). what size pipe is comming off the stove?

could a liner like this be used as the actual chimney where the masonry is not there?

I have a three flue chimney with terracotta liners. the one for my boiler was in bad shape so I lined it with Z-flex. Seems ok. Someone gave me a wood tove with 6"flue. My chimney flue is 7" I think, could I run regular black stove pipe down the terracotta? Or do I need to go with All-fuel? Big bucks, I know.

that is what I thought. I really just need to find a cheap (in expensive) way to get this as our Masonry chimney is too small and has never worked properly
@DillysADV15 жыл бұрын
that would be a good action to take but I have my own chimney sweeper and another vital fact is that this Chimney has Never worked properly since it was installed by the previous owner 15 yrs ago.

I have a gas furnace vented through my chimney. I'll be removing that furnace. Could I vent the wood stove through the chimney if I have one of these liners? Would I even need a liner? Nothing else will be vented through the chimney except the wood stove. If anyone knows, please let me know.

I have stacks line for 6 years and I can tell you: It's all very nice, but the wrong pipe stacks. He not serve long as there is no heat resistant. There will be problems when the need for cleaning. These tubes fit only gases and ventilation. But not for chimney ... Metal chimney liner must be no less than 0.8 mm and stainless steel. Then he will serve a long time and no problems with cleaning.

Why is the foil side of the "insulation" not facing Inward, so that heat is Retained Within the Flex Pipe and draft better??
@nman25635 жыл бұрын
Because its primary purpose is to contain the fiberglass wool.

im a chimney tech..if the pipe youre burning through is too big for a liner to fit down the chimney the interior teracota clay may have to be removed which is called tile knocking and can allow a bigger pipe to fit inside.these guys are using bs sinle wall linings which dont last

this stuff is useless without the insulation. l have 8in terracotta and the 6in flex pipe will not fit with roll insulation attached, this means you have to use the powdered granules witch is very expensive. no insulation equals no draft with wood burning stove. and like others have mentioned this stuff is very thin which will equate to a short service life at least with a wood stove.

Use a duravent smooth wall liner you will not need to use the insulation. Or you can tile break all the terra-cotta out
