I am from "the foothills" of NC. We had some damage,, but nothing remotely close to this. I have heard of chimney rock my whole life,, but have never visited. By the time the storm passed through, I thought that it wasn't nearly as bad as Hugo, in 1989, but as I started talking to others and listening to the news and going through social media, I started learning of the devastation just 50 miles away. If there is a bright point to this situation, it is that the areas that weren't hit nearly as badly, have united, along with others from numerous other states, to help bring as much comfort as possible to those directly impacted. It won't make those with large losses whole, but I hope that it at least provides even a small amount of comfort for those that have been stripped of possibly lifelong blood, sweat, and tears. But everyone will do what they can, as they rebuild. An elderly woman at church this morning, said that angels did not always wear wings and frilly white clothes,, but they also wore work boots and jeans..

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you guys up there. As someone that lives on the coast I've been through several hurricanes and several rebuilding times after hurricanes. It's never easy but I have known many people from Tennessee and North Carolina and to a person they are some tough ass sons of bitches. It's not a matter of if you will rebuild its when and how damn fast. The nation stands with you and offers you its thoughts and prayers.
