The U.S. should prioritize its own citizens over providing extensive foreign aid, especially when delayed response times during disasters like Hurricane Helene suggest we aren’t adequately caring for our own in times of crisis. This sentiment reflects frustrations with how resources are allocated domestically, compared to the billions spent on international assistance. The current cost in damages from this storm is over $40 billion. The money sent to Ukraine is over $100 billion.

$100 Billion to Ukraine, is a tiny fraction of the spending the US does on it's own military's fuel bill per year. Part of that fuel bill this year will include the transport of emergency supplies and personnel in to this disaster. Given the size of the budget, it's possible to do both. You don't have to eliminate one to fund the other, that's just the agenda the politicians of division want to push. Yeah, I mean the ones wearing red caps that want you to hate your neighbors.

Dear friend, AMEN ! your so spot on and correct, may I add my sentiment and second your testimony by saying Timbaland, Humbly , as my heart and prayers, donations, and even considering to volunteer to help, I want to attest first I know God lives and loves us his children. I know he is ultimately in control . But if he loves us, why does he let this happen? Have you ever considered that we bring these apocalyptic catastrophes on our selves? Me included? For example, last century with the discovery of petroleum, it’s was a blessing , but I’m certain when we turned Sunday from a Holy day , the first day of the week to a holiday , and allowed disgruntled ppl like Madeline O’Hara to remove God out our society, you think God isn’t disappointed and angry? Instead of using our blessed natural resources for good, we squander it on excess, luxuries, pro sports on Sunday, nascar etc, wars, fighting , I’m certain if we return to God LIKE HE HAS INSTRUCTED US , HIS WAY , and keep the Sabbath , turn away from our perversions, even mine at times, take public education out of the hands of government, support good laws, and elect better moral leaders, I know it would do more for our climate , than austerity from pres Biden, /newsom etc or to buy a electric vehicle, . I d like to see more involvement and diplomacy to other world leaders to soften their hearts some to turn our swords back into pruning hooks. Wouldn’t you rather like to see our resources like petroleum and other minerals go to farming, infrastructure to rebuild from fires, floods and homeless and hungry? I know God is willing to help, this is How He works. He has blessed me when I remember him, keep his commandments, be more Christ like. I felt like expressing this while I watched, God bless. Border patrol is here… police from around the state. Not sure about national guard. This was so unexpected and happened so fast with the flooding. We just got power back on after 4 days and I feel so guilty that I’m so blessed compared to others in my community.

Glad you're safe and I hope you're able to prepare now for any other "what ifs". Get portable chargers, save important files on a SD card, make sure you always have a full stock of water, canned food, food cookers not needed to plug in, etc.

Search and rescue are working tirelessly to rescue and recover Americans still missing after this storm 600+ missing. I want to know what the politicians are doing? Just visiting sites for political reasons or are they digging into their large personal bank accounts and actually helping American people? Their millionaires, we are average citizens helping others and don’t care who they’re voting for. People have lost everything and are displaced. It’s time to set name calling and bias aside . I believe Trump was there providing gas, water, and other resources. He also reached out to Elon Musk for SpaceX communication resources (not sure exactly what it does, but Elon Musk did report on it and how they’re going to send more). Trump also donated millions to help (10 million is what I’m hearing). I lived in Fayetteville NC for 26 yrs .. I experienced Hurricane Fran and it was a night of nightmarish winds and rain and apocalyptic damage in Red Springs where I lived.. The fact that the hurricane came this far inland was amazing and terrifying .. My heartfelt prayers to all my homies in NC ! We are having terrible drought and Blackouts here in Ecuador

Climate change doesn’t “cause” storms, but it does make them more devastating. Warmer ocean water creates more moisture in the air, which is what storms use for their fuel. 2023 had the hottest Atlantic Ocean average temperature ever recorded.

I don’t understand why these ppl didn’t prepare for Hurricane Helene. ANYWHERE a Category 2,3,4 hurricane is coming directly over you, take it from someone who learned the hard way, pack up and evacuate. Even a Category 2 sounds “low” on the scale but it’s ridiculously powerful w/mini tornado’s created and spinning out in every direction taking rooftops off, uprooting trees, tossing vehicles in the air like toys, flying projectiles throwing, hitting and smashing through things going >100 mph. Even the rain drops hitting u feels like BB gun pellets hitting you, so DO NOT WALK UR DOGS, HORSES, OR ANY PETS OUTSIDE IN HURRICANE RAIN. After a devastating hurricane, please do not drive around and video record ppl at the site where they just lost their home bc, from my own experience, it’s very disrespectful, hurtful, and embarrassing being filmed by a bystander when u just lost all ur stuff. Unless ur part of EMS, medical, or FEMA it’s best to stay safely at home and allow our hero’s to go about and do what they are trained to do after a disaster hits. It’s rare how strong and far inland this hurricane made it, and I hope everyone will learn to be prepared jic another one is sighted to come ur way. I’m not too sure about this, but I have a feeling that NWS, TWC, and local weathermen did not stress nor focus on Hurricane Helene as much as they do for hurricanes w/ projected paths over coastal lying areas. Yep, the mountainous western region of NC will expect to be reporting a great loss of both human & animal lives from the severe flooding of the rivers, mudslides, wind and tornado damage, as well as rain damage to property bc they were not warned enough in advance which I find insane bc I’ve lived in coastal VA/NC my entire life and they take evacuating very serious, so serious that sometimes everyone feels that sometimes an evacuation call isn’t necessary and ppl react ugly. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Robinson was crazy not to vote for disaster relief aid proposed by NC representative Carter the very week same week Helene hit the region . Now, Robinson is begging for relief aid from Carter! After Biden visits Raleigh, NC and then flies over and, hopefully, lands and visits w/Helene survivors and first responders tomorrow, surely Carter will get all the relief aid he been asking for, and, and a budget increase on his emergency readiness & preparedness plan. Also, the cost of home insurance is way too expensive to the point of being ridiculously too much bc the economy is out of control too high. When it costs $10.50 - $15.00 for an adult to eat regular sized combo meal at McDonald’s things are very bad. I can’t even it anymore, much less going to a full service restaurant with my family of 5. Only good outta that us my kids will grow up to appreciate the feeling of going out to eat where ur served by a waiter/waitress. My ❤ goes out to my fellow North Carolinians out west. I’ve endured countless hurricanes living in Kill Devil Hills, NC, but I can’t even begin to imagine, bc their terrain is very different from the coast. Many are isolated due to wiped out roads and many downed trees. Gosh, I didn’t even think about how the forest wildlife was affected, yet, with beavers, deer, birds, raccoons, bear, opossums, squirrels and all the others. So animal rescuers are going to be inundated as well. We all need to help our country when a disaster like this occurs. There’s many easily searchable websites available to find donation drop off sites and taking cash donations. God Bless You All🇺🇸

Especially in areas that don't normally get tornadoes like Asheville etc where their homes and buildings aren't constructed with them in mind (or have built in shelters) so even "weaker" tornadoes and winds can just completely decimate those homes and buildings, which also means there's even more debris being thrown at incredibly dangerous speeds =(
