During this time, the pilot had pushed the yoke forward and the plane's autopilot was disengaged, but was not aware of it, so during the go-around, he did nothing to actively take control of the plane, as he thought the autopilot would initiate the maneuver.

On Monday, 16 February 1998, the Airbus A300 jet airliner operating the flight crashed into a road and residential area in Tayuan, Taoyuan County (now Taoyuan City), near Chiang Kai-shek International Airport (present-day Taoyuan International Airport), Taiwan. All 196 people on board were killed (including the governor of Taiwan's central bank, Sheu Yuan-dong, his wife, and three central bank officials[4][5]), along with seven people on the ground. Hsu Lu, the manager of the Voice of Taipei radio station, said that one boy was pulled alive from the wreckage and later died. RIP to all of them... 💔

This crash is just as almost the same as China Airlines Flight 140 about 4 years ago. in fact, it is almost similar in everything: both are A300-600R owned by China Airlines, both are having large quantity of people on board, both are on final approach at night, both are suddenly go-around which led to deep stall and crash to the ground. And ofc, both are caused by pilot error, which make me wonder long time ago: did China Airlines learn anything from Flight 140 when Flight 676 crashed?

I’m from Taiwan and this was just so horrifying. The crash site was less than 10 kilometers from where I live now and my family and I all saw the news about this crash on TV. At that time, reporters just directly showed how the plane crashed into residential buildings and there were fire, wreckages, rubbles and body parts all over the crash site. It was so frightening and some people had to go to the doctor because of seeing such a scary scene. 😢 RIP to all the people on board.

The aircraft reached a speed of 45 knots before it stalled at around 2700 feet, so the animation isn't going to show the aircraft plummeting to the ground at a million miles per hour.

It was practically free falling because it was at 45 knots, so it makes sense, it didnt plummet nose down. But I have to pick on the fact that all the lights (ones on the tail plane and the landing lights) disappeared for no reason when it was going down

@@RubenThomas yes, it had no reason to disappear, a plane stalling doesnt have an effect on its electrical systems until it hits the ground. They did animate lights in past animations, (i.e. UPS6) where the plane was lit piror to hitting the ground, when it did the lights flickered and turned off so its weird that they forgot to do it here
