China and the Gulf States are setting up their own non-USD trading bloc. They have no choice.

There are many strong reasons for countries to seek alternatives to trading in USD, the constant fear of sanctions being the most commonly cited. But a greater catalyst is that Washington's titanic fiscal deficits are draining US dollars from the global banking system. Even our allies are left with few options, but to set up bilateral swap lines directly between buyers and sellers, as USD liquidity drains away.

the empire dropped the anvil on its own feet when it deployed the nuclear SWIFT option on Russia. the empire thought it could weaken Russia through sanctions alone. Russia FM deserved a Nobel with her brilliant idea of gold and Ruble for Russian export. Freezing of Russian assets also sent a warning signal to Gulf oil Sheiks, their assets in the West is no longer safe when their action displease the empire.

It is very unwise to exclude Russia's raw material from global trade because the supply is simply too huge to be ignored. Now the impenetrable fortress of the US Dollar as global trade currency is cracked and provided the world alternative measures to trade with Russia. The world finally have excuses to reduce the use of USD, and the US can no longer threaten other countries with sanctions, export their inflations, nor peek at other countries cash flow and transactions to manipulate other countries.

Worse still the world’s central banks including friendly countries are dumping dollars for gold. The dollars are entering the US banking system and the gold is leaving it. There is currently between 200 and 300 trillion dollars of paper gold in the Us banking system which are essentially short selling positions. That is to say they are legal obligations to deliver physical gold if the owner of the paper gold calls on the seller to do so. They are progressively being closed out and there is only 11 trillion of physical bullion in existence in the whole world. Seems like a problem to me.

When we do Supply Chain analysis, we often need to work out how much stock is "permenantly locked" inside the supply chain system. Whoever can reduce that SCM locked cash or stock, will win. I believe what you are saying is, there is a large amount of USD that is being circulated in this worldwide, money-cash-supply chain, and they are in USD. Once we replace these case with something else, that USD will no longer be needed and will all flood back to the US market. And they can swallow those USD as part of the borrowings.

$ is returning to the US because of the higher interest rate or other countries are selling their $ or both?
@graceli6886
@graceli6886 Ай бұрын
My understanding is mainly the high interest rate of ‘low risk’. First, the dollars flocked to the US may still belong to foreigners, but are just invested in US treasury, share market, other financial investment etc, and the increments of treasury loan, equity market value etc. is the result/indicator of ‘dollar returning to US’. Second, foreign central banks do sell dollars to buy local currencies to keep exchange rate relatively stable, especially when their own interest rates are not high enough comparing to the US one. This is a result of high USD interest, and the buyers of these USD can still be another foreign entity. In short, dollar returning to the US doesn’t mean dollar returning to US owners, but returning to US territory/market.

There seems to be interest in CBDC like a "US stable coins" but that's probably a premature consideration. US stable coins are different from CBDC, they are not on the balance sheet of the FED. CBDC would be in competition with commercial banks which create 97% of fiat money. They are competing with banks only a means of payment, not in money creation.

What do you think of the GDP? US GDP is $80k per capita. Capita means everyone including babies. So, according to GDP, "average" 3 people household earns $240k per year in the US? This gotta be a joke. How does that compare in China? Chinese GDP per capita is $13k, same as Mexico. I've been to Mexico and China, they ain't the same GDP per capita countries. I heard fresh college graduate in China makes $40k per year or more. Fresh college graduate in the US makes about $72k per year. Shouldn't GDP reflect this? Not exactly, but approximately? Meaning China's GDP per capita is about half of that of the US? Which also means China's total GDP, nominal not ppp, is twice that of the US?

Jai Hinduja. Gulf states should also remember what will happen to them if they keep their surpluses in Gold like Gaddafi and Saddam. It is better that they spent their oil resources to improve their citizen livelihood like infrastructures, education, housing, medical etc. rather than stupidly hoarding up the surpluses or building gigantic palaces or mosques.

Already in the first few minutes of this video I hear a lot of conflating use of alternative currencies to the Dollar with other alleged US economic problems.. First, the Dollar is used in many ways... Including as a reserve currency storing and preserving national wealth outperforming any other like gold, crypto and other fiat currencies for stability and reliability. It's obviously used to settle transactions and is universally recognized and accepted. The problem for BRICS nations using a currency alternative is that too much means one side starts piling up a mountain of non-Dollars that have to be spent in a developed nation like the US or EU. BRICS and developing nations don't make much high end or quality stuff developing nations want to buy so you get situations like China trying to sell cars no one wants even at home in China. For now, it might only cost a transaction fee to convert a country's excess alternative to Dollars but as that currency alternative increases it's likely costs will go up, too and cause that alternative to devalue. Market forces will do this without need for any intervention. As for all that conflating, use of the Dollar is largely irrelevant. Nations and individuals that prioritize safety and reliability will continue to buy US Treasuries. If a global recession can be avoided the demand will increase. And at least for today even trillions of dollars in debt service is small when the economy is growing multiple trillions compounded annually. No other country manages economics on this scale so the numbers might appear intimidating but US managers are the best in the world and are doing a fine job.

This guy is the example of a little information is dangerous or at least enough to start saying all sorts of wrong things. His scattergun approach raises a new topic every few seconds without exploring any in depth. Recommend take any single topic and spend some time to understand what's really going on and how it works. Explore the major players and what motivations are involved Maybe with more understanding there would be less fear and more an appreciation for how global and national finances work.

Canadian dollar was falling against the USD past 15 years and so is the rest of the world so i can't see where USD is getting weaker. In fact USD is getting stronger year after year.
